This web page and resources, even how old it looks, has provide a valuable insight to calibration of ANY printer. I am almost done with all the procedures and have noticed greatly improved print quality. If you are a perfectionist like myself, try it out and FINE tune your printer from the start. Focus is on setup of software/firmware, then onto Slic3r and Cura configurations, then onto multiple calibration procedures and test objects/prints.
The most important factor bar none to the setup IS the 1st layer as in the default hot end/nozzle Z home height (post homing), and the bed leveling. In here it is explained SPOT ON.
