Cura 3.0 beta
Cura 3.0 beta
It's a bit of a silent beta, but it's there;

Re: Cura 3.0 beta
On it. Will deep dive this weekend to see what issues I can find (unless I am drug away from my 3D printer, kicking and screaming).

Re: Cura 3.0 beta
Ok ! nallath, I am asking for "Infill Shift" not "Infill Slider" function in recommended mode...
Re: Cura 3.0 beta
oh euh. Could be that it didn't make it in time for 3.0. Not a 100% sure.

Re: Cura 3.0 beta
Can I make a completely crazy suggestion for creating a new machine profile, @nallath ?
How about the ability to import a Simplify3D profile (FFF file) into Cura?
The current way to go between different printers in Cura is a bit of a mess (as best I can tell, assuming I am doing it right)
The FFF file has all the basic setting info. It shouldn't be crazy difficult for your programmers to import that file into Cura variables, right?
Here's the FFF file format info https://www.simplify3d.com/support/arti ... ile-types/
It's just a "not fun" task to go through Cura's buried settings to take your S3D profile and port it over into Cura.
I use Simplify3D more lately, since with 4 different printers, I can easily select between them (Ultimaker 2+, FT-5, CR-10, Tevo Tornado, etc)
Or should I kick this up the chain into GitHub?

Re: Cura 3.0 beta
Eeeh. I don't think there is an easy 1 on 1 connection. A number of things could be doable. Posting it on Github is always a good idea, as it's easier to keep of track of things there.

Re: Cura 3.0 beta
I think such an import would be hugely popular...it makes it easier to get someone into Cura importing their S3D settings

Re: Cura 3.0 beta
Assuming that both S3D and Cura setting files are ASCII text files, this is a pretty basic "reformat a text file" task that can be done outside of Cura / S3D (and in both directions) in pretty much any programming language that can read and modify text files.
However - some settings will be hard or impossible to translate directly from one to another. Some S3D settings are dependent on each other, and if you leave one of them out, the others are compromised. Retraction settings for example, which are much more customisable in S3D than in Cura (note - I only know the old Cura )

Re: Cura 3.0 beta
If you look at a FFF file, it's a big text file
Re: Cura 3.0 beta
In new Cura, i think you have way more customisation compared to s3d. People still seem to think that S3D has more settings, but that has long ago ceased to be the case. Right now Cura has ~15 settings regarding retraction alone.
