Re: Slice in Cura has big blank spot 3/4 up?

It could be that at that part the wall is thinner then your nozzle size,
you could try making the nozzle smaller in Cura to see if it slices correct, if so then you would have to adjust the wall thickness of the part.

Re: Not enough material extruding before print

I have a UM2+ at work, and don't have that kind of problem,
when it starts it comes to the front extrudes an amount of filament out of the nozzle before starting.

I could be that that firmware reverses too much after a print, any way to check that ?

Re: Folgertech FT-5

I think I wrecked one of the stepper motors, I was printing ABS and the enclosed chamber was at 70C, woke up to loud noises from the printer :) [edit] it seems to be a wiring problem, not a temperature problem, the X-axis wire might have a break in it, I just checked it by switching out a stepper fr...

Re: Primer for new Ultimaker 3 users?

I think to get to grips with the dual printing with PVA material,
from what I've seen it takes a little bit of testing to get the right result.

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

You no longer have yours?? Sold the last one I made a few years ago, it was a R2 rebuild to R5X2, and was planning to make C3PO and R2 together, but my Mom needed a kidney, and I took longer too recover :-? I sold the R5 to a German collector, here is what he looked like, I tried to make it as accu...

For god's sake, throw some mud on that R2, it's blinding me :)

Looking good, I miss my R2 buddy.

Re: Folgertech FT-5

Almost there… need to finish some details, but my FT5+ is done, encased in 3mm acrylic and custom acrylic electronics box with a Blaze-Cut system. and workspace now 400x300x500mm the only problems I have is the print quality :), even after PID and E-step tuning, I still need to bring the flow back t...

Maybe this one ? : https://www.ifind3d.com/stl-file/3D-model/design/208/ Yes, this one! However, the download link is dead ;) :( This one seems to work; http://printobjects.me/catalogue/m8-avenger-assault-rifle-from-mass-effect-11-replica_220224/ Here is another one, but less detailed: http://3dmag...

Re: My YouTube Channel - Where Nerdy Is Cool

Nice vid :) your painted corner brackets look like cookies :) if you would paint the extrusions BB8 white, it would be the best looking FT5 out there. You might consider doing a build blog of the whole printer, at the moment there are a few fast time-lapses, but not a more detailed build, like a vid...

Re: Can it (the FT-5) handle a 2500g extruder?

Construction wise for the FT5 it should be no problem, the sliders can carry that weight, and the 2020 alu construction can easily hold it,
but you would really have to cut down on speed and jerk settings, the belts and motors could have some problem with that weight.

Re: Folgertech FT-5

Ben has noted some layer shifting from filament pulling. What sort of Spool/Feeder setup do you have, Xeno? I have an alu tube running on the top of the printer, with spools on it, for now I do have some trouble with layer shifting, but I think it has more to do with badly adjust stepper voltage th...

Re: How much do 3D print shops charge?

I let Cura calculate the volume needed for the print, and use that for the price per gram when I buy a roll of filament including shipping, I charge extra if the print has a high risk of failure rating and some time spent to prep the printer, than charge the amount of post processing, removing suppo...
