The corner pieces are extra support because I made my FT5 larger, I wanted to minimize frame movement.
flipping the rail forward is the best method to loose any wobble, I loose a little bit of Y-size but it is worth it.
and more easy, I would have to shorten the rail to fit underneath.

Re: Paul's FT-5 Build
Even the more expensive sliders have a small wobble, even a very minor one can result in a lot at a distance, it is better to use two together, I was contemplating a V-Slot setup, but most sellers charge a lot for shipping. I already had an extra slider with rail as a replacement, so I just used tha...

Re: Paul's FT-5 Build
Honestly the others also don't sound smooth, did you try moving both without the connection 2020 piece ? it has been hit and miss with these sliders, you could check if any bearings are missing. mine were all very smooth, but had a lot of wobble in them, for the Y-axis it is not a problem, but for t...

Re: Y Axis Problem when printing larger prints
That looks like layer shifting, and is probably caused by loose belts or loose grub screws of the pulleys connected to the rods.
if the picture shows the front of the printer, then the problem is on the Y-axis.

Re: Asides sanding...how to improve this?
The surface quality would stay the same with PLA or ABS, but ABS is soo much easy to sand then PLA
but you would need to enclose the UM for ABS.
you could try XT, this is also good to sand.
It also looks like you printed a little too hot ?

Re: Slice in Cura has big blank spot 3/4 up?
It could be that at that part the wall is thinner then your nozzle size,
you could try making the nozzle smaller in Cura to see if it slices correct, if so then you would have to adjust the wall thickness of the part.

Re: Not enough material extruding before print
I have a UM2+ at work, and don't have that kind of problem,
when it starts it comes to the front extrudes an amount of filament out of the nozzle before starting.
I could be that that firmware reverses too much after a print, any way to check that ?

Re: Folgertech FT-5
I think I wrecked one of the stepper motors, I was printing ABS and the enclosed chamber was at 70C, woke up to loud noises from the printer :) [edit] it seems to be a wiring problem, not a temperature problem, the X-axis wire might have a break in it, I just checked it by switching out a stepper fr...

I think to get to grips with the dual printing with PVA material,
from what I've seen it takes a little bit of testing to get the right result.

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
You no longer have yours?? Sold the last one I made a few years ago, it was a R2 rebuild to R5X2, and was planning to make C3PO and R2 together, but my Mom needed a kidney, and I took longer too recover :-? I sold the R5 to a German collector, here is what he looked like, I tried to make it as accu...
