Re: Testing for the new shroud?
Will check pulley belt tightness on that axis (again)
Will also check that video and the squaring process.
I just want to print and not debug the printer constantly!
I need to send this to someone whose more into tinkering than I am.
My part time job just starting giving me hours again, so the savings for a replacement printer is underway

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
Didn't see this topic for a while, but wow, still troubles with the dual fan :O? Damn.
@Others, I never did the entire calibrating thing, just go 100% after the first layer, or in a few steps, never had trouble with anything though.
Why would you want to have the fans spin gradually? Or other than the first layer, spin less than 100%?

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
If your fans are behaving properly it does not matter too much...
I gave precise instructions here because LePaul is struggling for a while and I wanted to be sure we were not missing anything.
Now with some material I do not to blow to hard, so I sometime run prints at 10-20% fan.
(E.g. I have poor layer adhesion with nGen if it cools down too quicly)

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
Right now the fans are working well thanks to Amedee's expert help with the firmware. I haven't seen Neotko chime in at all, who asked me to do those initial steps. Apparently he has abandoned me
Perhaps I need a new thread for the leaning issue, so that we can address the separate problems

I'm reading all. This it's my week of vacations with the family so I'm on/off. And yes you need to debug the axis separately

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
Ok, I forgot you were on vacation
Amedee, one thing I did tonight...(asides addressing the pulleys in another thread)...
I'm a little confused on the fans and not sure it's Cura or firmware.
Fan Speed Min (%) is set to 2 (Fan speed equals 5.1)
Fan Speed Max (%) is set to 20 (Fan speed equals 51)
(I cheated and used this link to calculate percent of 255 values)
Now my question...on the Ulticontroller, fans show 100% but when i look at what the fan speed shows, it shows the Fan Low value.
It was beyond the "Full On" height
Which leads me to wonder...for example with nGen, which wants 50% fans, how to force that into Cura (or do I need to upgrade from 15.04.2)

I am pretty sure you are looking at the feed rate, not the fan...LePaul wrote: Now my question...on the Ulticontroller, fans show 100% but when i look at what the fan speed shows, it shows the Fan Low value.
With the legacy firmware the fan percentage is not displayed, you need to enable 'Fan percentage' in my builder to get it. (Note that this is an old picture, on recent builds the Fan percentage is on the left side)

Yes!
I need to re-compile the firmware with the fan percentage option

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
I recompiled with the fan percentage
Maybe my math is off. Fan was sitting at 1%
Cura fan speed min is 2. Fan speed max 20
I cranked it up to 25 in the Ulticontroller/ temp / fan speed. The display shows F 9%
Can you decide this for me?

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
If you set min speed at 2 in Cura then you will have 2% most of the time. It stays at min unless layer time is to short and then can go up to max.
The fact that you get 1% when you set 2 in Cura is because of rounding for small values.
When you set 25 in the fan speed it is % whise 25/255 which is 9%, so correct as well

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
Also the fan speed keeps going back to whatever the original Cura setting is. If I intervene on the Ulticontroller and raise the fan speed, a short time later it is back to original (low) speed.

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
So the question becomes...is the fans just too powerful, causing this underextrusion?

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
I would raise the temp by 5C intervals while printing a long tower to check if prints file. Like the ultiarjan temp tests (on youmagine search his user name)

Re: Testing for the new shroud?
Okay...as I mentioned at UM, keep the fans the same, just toggle the temps?
