Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
I must add that I never use coasting sinxe a year ago. It did very weird stuff with multiple objects and wasn't reliable. Wipe and good amount of retractions are ok if you have a good feeder. I think for 2.85 probably is more useful since it tends to drip more. But also maybe testing a -0.05 negative restart for normal prints without much retractions should work better at removing the blobs.

Yes, I think that was the "original" value.LePaul wrote:I think that's what Fredericks/Neotoko/my tweaked S3D profile has set too

This is a close up of the blob's...unless you know they are there you will hardly notice them. The Labyrinth box is printed in original size.

The lid, printed in blue Greentec, same settings, except flow was reduced to 104 since the diameter of this spool was ~2.80.

Nilrog, can you show some photos of your bed stabiliser,
I did print and fit one a few months ago but removed it after the first test as it collided with the print head home position, it may be I need a slight redesign of my fan ducts.

Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
Sure, I will try to remember to do it tonight when I get home. We are on our way to Gröna Lund to have some fun today
I'm using Gudo's fan shroud that takes very little space. I haven't double-checked but I doubt that it will hit the stabilizer.

I think um2 bed stabilizer does hit um2 fans on the corners. For the umo+ version I did lowered it (reducing the reduction angle) to avoid it did hit the fans.

Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
Here are two photos of the right hand side, one with the head at the max XY location and I have plenty of space. I think that I would be safe even with the rods in the same height as the holders for the UM2 puts them. And on the other side I have ~1 cm space between the fan shroud and the rod.Izzy wrote:Nilrog, can you show some photos of your bed stabiliser

And here is perhaps a better photo of the left side, without the head.

Cheers, didn't realise it was on the UMO, I can see Gudo's fan duct too looks like they use blower fans, I may have to alter my design to blowers too.

Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
Yes, it's blowers...and very effective. The shroud is also good in the sense that the only part that is really affected by heat is a pice of aluminum can that you can cut and shape easily with a tool.
Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
I just picked up some of their PowR filament and am severely disappointed with the layer bond strength. It seems to be an improved PlaTec lignin type material which is why I'm following up here. It's incredibly weak regardless of the many combinations of temp/speed/fan/layer height I've tried so far. Which is strange since their page specifically mentions good interlayer bond strength. Unfortunately I'm not sure what practical uses such a material has, so maybe there's something wrong with my roll or perhaps some input from others here can help. Though I was hoping for slightly more, at this point it would be to achieve at least the layer bond of a good PLA. It's quite far from that. Any thoughts?
I've tried:
- temps from not extruding to bubbling
- speeds from 20 to over 60mm/s
- cooling fan speeds from off to full strength
- layer heights from 0.1mm to 0.3mm on 0.4 Nozzle
- various combinations thereof
Only at about a temp of 255 without a fan does the layer bond get somewhat strong. But at those temps, it's a hideous mess of overheated extrusions and deformed parts. Though the one positive thing I'll say is that it certainly is very pretty when printed within spec. Though that's no use when it all falls apart with no layer bond

Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
Yea Linen isn’t Tec. Same happens to Extrudr Flax that’s BDP but not Tec. So, is just matte finish without hightemp resistance. Layer bond for me on Flax is just great but is more flexible than pla. And resist the twist better, but flexes.
Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
Interesting to hear your experiences. Just to clarify, I haven’t tried linen at all. Mostly interested in materials that offer strength first and finish second. Which was why I was interested in PowR since it seems to be an improvement on PlaTec (nice finish, high temp, and apparently stronger layer bond).
It does seem that these similar products (like the ones from extrudr too) are lignin (not linen) based though. Which is why appreciate hearing/reading the comments about all of these. You say your experience with flax is similar in that it’s weaker than high temp varieties, but still feels adequate? Just seems even stranger that my experience with the marketed stronger variety is actually so weak then. If this high temp version was any weaker it would be fall apart Not many posts talking about this downside other than the one on the Prusa forum which is curious too.

Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
Any link? Maybe is a form of APLa that needs oven to get hightemp/stronger bond? I don’t know the brand that’s why I ask

Re: Extrudr PLA Tec Black
Oh man I see how. PowR is a high impact strong BioFila class. Never tested it, I would drop a mail to them just in case the spool is bad or it has special needs like water absorption rate from air or maybe it needs oven after print?
Well they don’t even share a pdf with specs. So weird. Clearly that PowR variant is different than tec stuff
