3D Printing Forum

As the subject implies, I'm thinking about getting into 3D printing.
I have watched countless videos and forum posts. But as one Youtubber suggested I'm seeking advice from those with experience.
I'm mainly interested in printing useful parts for my lathe, garage, etc , not decorative items.
I have pre ordered a Bambu X1 Carbon, but have started to rethink that decision. Possibly a Voron or one of the resin printers would best serve my intended use? Or another printer?

So I'm looking for opinions from more experienced users.

Voron is a very complicated kit to build, dial in and run. They are impressive machines and my undergraduate engineering students that work for me will be putting mine together.

After looking over the documentation and build videos, I am happy to let them sort it out!

The Bambu has some really good reviews, despite the long wait.

One thing people ask me often is 'What printer should I get?"

My answer is this - What's your time worth?

Do you want to assemble, build, tweak and do it all before even printing?

Or do you just want to slice and print?

Most tend to be the latter.

You'll pay more but your satisfaction will be much higher!

Bigger question is.... what's your goals? Is there a project you want to make? Or just want to get into the hobby and see if its for you?

My goal is to make functional/prototype parts'
Putting a veron I'm ok with putting a Veron together, but considering my experience with 3D printer (none) tuning might be an issue.
