Thinking of getting a piece from a local glass shop....is there anything special for size or specs?

I think that the discussion should be updated the header post with the inclusion of final results.

Tempered glass size it's on the umo bed kit github, umo+ github and um2 github. 4mm tall. Check that they smooth the corners before paying.
