I've been at my friend's shop using the cnc machine all week for another project. I haven't had a chance to test those new fans yet. You make me wonder if the CFM rate might be too powerful

Well with the 40W heater umo has it can compensate the cold. But the problem it's how long it would take to do it. And the more cfm the merrier.

But LePaul you are overthinking it. Get kapton and ceramic paper, insulate the heater with that and all fixed. If you don't pla changing temperature because the fans will affect the print quality (on some pla brands it even changes how matte or bright it is and you can get weird looking z prints).

Also the hard part is to get a good airflow, not too closed, not too open. The best way to test a fan it's to print a ultirobot at 30mm/s as cold as you can. If it doesn't has good ears, redo the fans. Been there, and it's a pain because airflow software it's quite expensive.

And was printed quite fast for overhangs. 40mm/s 0.08 50infill 190C (I think this could be printed at 180 easily but I wanted to test fans vs fans)

Left umo+ meal fan cap (1fan)
Right umo+ dual simetric fancap (x2 40x40x20 fans)

Right robot looks quite better. Flawless victory, imo

And that's with cheap-ass-chips pla benq white. Print's quite bad but sticks to bed very nicely for fast prototypes.

Nice one! I'm curious what you designed for UMO using 2 40x40 fans. Might get some of those myself and print yours ?

I want to change it also so a pair of offial 30x30 fans could be used (easier to get a old on but should only work on umo+ because the serial 12v fans). Anyhow today 5h without fan on seems to probe that the design it's solid and won't melt soon.

Hmmm... sounds interesting, but what about extention to 2 nozzles??

Extension to 2 nozzles, nope sorry XD But when I release the stuff if you get the stl measures it's quite easy to make your own fan cap and adapt it. The design it's very modular so if a part fail you don't need to reprint everything.

So, the good news I made the fan caps on 30mm/40mm and 50mm version. But the 50mm version isn't perfectly symmetric, but it's quite ok. I haven't tested it yet, but if works like the 40x40 it will be quite nice.

Soon soon. But the good part it's that can be printed (and it should afaik) with carbon. Carbonfill (the one I use) has an interesting sideeffect when exposed to extreme heat.

a) It compresses on itself, but not too much and very slowly.
b) It becomes gloosy
c) If you expose it at 800-1000C (Lighter) it burns but stops so fast, on all my trys I wasnt able to make the carbon catch fire.
d) And the most important, it becomes 'hard' not like after it's printed that it's flexible.

The only test I haven't done yet it's to insert a printed Carbonfill on the oven for 15mins at 100C or more.

So... Anyone have ever put a lighter near the CF from colorfabb? I wonder how it reacts.

I have a sample, I can try to light the end, but I only have matches/candles, no butane lighter torch thingie.
