Ultimaker 3 reveal trip

Post by LePaul »

Well I am on my way home (one more connecting flight) and I have to say this has been a really great time. I feel like I was surrounded by a fun family that's extremely proud to show off their new baby

I spent over an hour with individual team members, learning how much work and research went into the new printer. I met Simon and Erin from Fabrc8, two exceptionally nice people. George (gr5) is a super high energy and amazing person to get to know.

So many names and they were all so very gracious to me and welcoming. (gr5 kept introducing me as that "guy who built and R2-D2. Sander would tease and say "we call him the guy from the 'other' forum" with a grin)

I think the Ultimaker 3 will certainly be a huge hit for the pro crowd. It may be a steep upgrade for hobby guys like me. Impressive, yes!

Nobody has answered the goody bag question, so what was in the goody bag?
If we are guessing..
A Pen, a eraser, a note book, a coffee cup & Coaster, a t-shirt. A print sample...

An Ultimaker pen (it doesn't write....darn under-extrusion!! **kidding**), an Ultimaker sticker and an Ultimaker robot pin.

Was there a live-stream in Europe? Sanders had mentioned the web site went down at one point

I don't think there was any live stream here, and ultimaker.com was not responding like half an hour after the countdown had reached zero. :-?
It surprised me a bit that they did not simply live stream the event in NYC or something.

Evidently they streamed the event to Netherlands but only for the Ultimaker employees. Not for international consumption.

Sorry for being off-topic, but this picture is just too exclusive: gr5 on a forum where Ultimaker printers are discussed with only one (!) single post!

George, welcome!

@LePaul: Obviously, you had a good time there! Thanks for the pics!

Oh sorry Izzy

It's in the box my Ulimaker 3 came in.

JUST KIDDING (Oh how I wish!)

Really? You insist on photos for a pen, sticker and a robot pin? :)
