Extruder Crushes Part

Post by Flipper1499 »

Hi, I'm using prusa slicer for the first time and I had a print in progress. It was about 80% completed and the extruder suddenly came down to nearly bed height and crushed the part, moved around and then returned to the proper height and continued as normal. Any ideas on what would cause that?

Thanks

I had this problem on my Hictop, as i believe that the display cables were too long.

Solved the problem by shielding the cables leading to the Display and created a 3D Printed shielded controller cover.
I used Aluminum Foil Tape to line the 3D Printed case and connected a ground wire to the foil at the Fan vent site.
Almost forgot I also printed a cover for the display and shielded in the save fashion.

After I have never had another runaway nozzle.
In fact all my 3D Printed models became somewhat smoother after the shielding mods.

Started with a test Shied below

Then designed and 3D Printed permanent cases and shielded.
