Extruder isssue

Post by ExoduxOne »

Hello all,
Having an issue which I've never seen in my 7 years of printing. While using my Creality CR10 S5 with a Micro Swiss hotend, during my last print, the extruder stopped working mid way through a print and instead of feeding the filament, it is "clicking", the stepper basically moves back and forth.. I tried a to loosen/ tighten the resistance on the extruder with no luck.

I just don't know where to go or want to do to correct this issue. Any help would be appreciated!

I have in the past had the same thing happen on my printer and each time (yep multiple times) it would be due to a clog in the nozzle. In my case, I was using a slice engineering bi-metal heat break. Ended up replacing the heat break and (knock on wood) haven't had a problem since.
When I pulled the heat break, I found a rough spot inside. Maybe that is what was causing the problem? I don't know. Just know it is now working.
YMMV
