How many 3D printers do you have?

Post by LePaul »

Before you think I am crazy...some of these came from doing YouTube reviews...and some, from people who dabbled in 3D printing and it wasn't for them. So, they sold them for a very nice low price!

I have more than I have room for and not as many as would like to have.

Hictop 3DP11 - 220X270X185
Hictop 3DP12 - 220X270X185
Hictop 3DP12 - 220X270X185
MPCNC Burley - 550X750X220 This still need some work to become a 3D Printer / CNC router

That now makes Four.

Do you mean by education printers or medical printers? I don't have education related printers;however, I have a useful guide about dentist 3d printers.

Hopefully, this will help you.

I do not have a printer, yet. I have been working in CAD/CAM for 30 years, both in design and NC programming, but have never been exposed to 3-d printing. My career has spanned aircraft, petro, and shipbuilding.

I am here hoping to learn enough to make an informed decision on what to purchase and find helpful souls to get me started. Mine will be primarily for hobby use unless I come up with something cool enough to sell.

My primary hobby is large-scale model trains, but I am fascinated by most operating miniatures.

Thanks,
Ted

I have seen various 3D prints that are for model trains and buildings, using either a resin printer of filament printer.
The first thing you need to work out is, what size will your 3D prints need to be. You can break a model into various part and glue them together if the printer isn't big enough.
There are many groups on Facebook, if you use it. This will give you an idea of what people are printing.
Also you need to look at LePaul youtube videos, he has done some big projects and is very knowledgeable. I am sure there are other people hear who have done some amazing stuff.
Myself I use my 2 printers, resin and filament for prototypes for work and various projects around the house.

One of my other hobbies is I play electric bass, your printer collection looks like my bass collection. But I digress.

To answer your question, as of day before yesterday my count doubled, to 2...

Voxelab Aquila, the original one with the G32 mainboard. I upgraded it with a Twotrees PEI build surface sheet when I managed to break the OE glass one, don't ask...
It is going to be the target of some upgrades / mods soon. They are...
3D Touch because I am too cheap for BL Touch and the 3D touch seems to have a decent enough reputation.
Hardened steel nozzle
Silent, or nearly so hot and and power supply fans because, dang this thing is loud.
Creality metal extruder lever / upper section.
300deg C rated bowden tube.

And new to me because I didn't want to go fully aftermarket to get a big one...
Voxelab Aquila X3 Max.
Unfortunately this one came factory defective, the proximity sensor for the auto leveling is no good, they are shipping me a new one. I do NOT look forward to having to do their quality control for htem. They REALLY ought to at least kick me a couple of spools of PLA as an oops we are sorry you need to fix a brand new machine... And yes once the warranty is up, this one is going to get the metal upper to the extruder if it will work with this one, I think it will, hardened steel nozzles and high temp bowden tube.

I know Voxleabs stuff tends to be variations on the open source design theme the same as much of Crealitys stuff, and I am very good with that, my issues are that, and for the most part, I am very happy with them.

I am working on a remodeling of a 1993 Ford Econline / Sportsmobile class B conversion van / RV, and doing some tech upgrades that need some custom I/O panels made, plus some obsolete trim parts on the interior that PETG should be good for. I have designed, and printed a variety of doo dads for around the house and home office. Ethernet cable organizer clips, Router wall mount brackets, Raspberry Pi cases, drawer organizers, etc.... Plus replacement pieces for now obsolete parts for an old table saw in my garage to bring it fully back to life and safe.
