Largest print on my Folger yet

Post by Lez0 »

Hi All
This might not look exciting, but for me it's a milestone.
I have had the Folger FT5 for just over a year now and have been doing bigger and bigger prints, also different materials.
This print is 250mm x 205mm x 80mm material PLA.
Designed by myself for a friend's project.
I played around with the print speed so it would be printed in a day.
Settings:
Table: 60°C
Nozzle: 200°C
layer height: 0.3
Print speed 75 mm/sec
Skirt.
No supports (there are only small holes in it)
Cura time: 13hr 54mins
Actual time 14hr 42mins.
The only problem I had was the roll of filament started to unwind around the pivot bar holding the reel. I had to keep unravelling it. This is the first time this has happened and I blame the material.
Very happy with the print. :-P

What's your problem with levelling the bed?
I had a problem getting the bed level, it has a slight dip in the middle.
I set the bed every time I use the printer as it seems to move from time to time.
I have some more large prints to do. I think I'l replace the vinyl mat before I start and put it on some new glass.
I keep thinking about upgrading it to R2, it $139 + shipping and I will also have to pay tax, for me not cheap.
I am still thinking of getting another printer, but I think it will have to be another large one.
I wish I could predict what I will be printing in the future, do you have a crystal ball?

Yes, mine has something going on in the middle.

I know I should just break down and take it apart and replace it with the ACM one Folger sent over.

Then I know my luck...the weekend I do that, 713Maker will magically have the beds in stock again!

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a ACM bed?

Aluminum Composite Material.

That's what they are using in the kits now instead of melamine.
