UM2 service parts / upgrade.

Post by Izzy »

Hi guys,
I've got to the point where I think I want to service/replace parts of the printer and would like some help and or surgestions on the replacement parts i.e. Where to get the best parts. So..
A) replacement Belts.
B) replacement Pulleys
C) replacement 8mm Rods for X and Y axis
D) replacement 6mm rods for print head.
E) replacement slider bearings for 8mm rods.
F) replacement slider bearings for 6mm rods.

I'm tempted to add some extra bed levelling screw holes and add some move levelling screw assemblies into the back corners as I seem to have a tilt across the back which is annoying the hell out of me. And perhaps something to the centre. Gudo's assembly has increased rigidity and I really like it (Cheers Gudo) :-D .
Also I wish I could obtain a ground glass plate, looking at the production standard for the glass plates they are tolerances at +-0.2mm flatness, which gives a 0.4mm difference, bloody annoying when trying to get a precise level flatness. :-x

Shafts I would get igus (they sell by web and custom size) or Misumi (I have from both, both are superb)

Pulleys if I where to get new ones I would get S2M. Is the ones um3 uses and they should work better (but my um3 beta has gt2 so no idea).

S2M has same tooth size than gt2 so steps remain the same.

Bearings there's a uk shop that sells pretty decent liears for hotend (need to dig into my post to find it)

Also ofc misumi bearings are very good but at a price.

But if you are gonna change all that I would wait for someone to make a corexy version for umo/um2 frame and move to linears... But that's unknown if will ever happen...

@Neotko has found some ceramic glass that looks good, seems a bit flatter

How many hours do you have on your printer?

Are you going to spec it up to 2+ while at it?

Cheers Neotko,
You don't happen to have the various specs and sizes handy for the various components?
I'm not really worried about price, more quality. Also is Paul correct about a better spec flatter glass?
Cheers, Izzy

As I'm running with a matchless hot end at 35W, with my fan ducts, a bondtech feeder, and Gudo's bed plate stabliser, I think I'm past a UM2+ I'm running a UM2>+

Ifyou google misumi igus neotko you will find a post where I posted the ones I used for misumi/igus

Misumi
https://ultimaker.com/en/community/1706 ... ply-133667

Igus
https://ultimaker.com/en/community/1922 ... ply-133669

Check the length since the 6mm ones are for umo+ and um2 uses longer ones (double check before order with ultimaker github)

Yeah the glass is great, so far I haven't been able to chip it, and is really flat.

It has slightly more adhesion but not enough to remove hairspray/helpers for complex materials

I can't see the details in the link,
The thread talks about tin and non tin side from the float glass manufacturing but I can see a link to the improved flatness glass.
Sorry to be blonde, ;-)
