Difference between bowden collets and bowden fittings?

Post by reibuehl »

I am wondering why some 3D printers use bowden tube fittings like these

while others - notably Ultimaker is using the bowden tube collets.

With the bowden tube fittings it seems to be easier to attach/detach the bowden tube. Would it make sense to convert the UM2 to these fittings for easier disconnecting the bowden for Atomic pulls? Does either have any other advantage or disadvantages?

Afaik that ones need manual drilling since they take a 6mm bowden (or a 3mm, etc) but the output is smaller. Have some of them that I had to drill so the bowden did pass through
