Ultimaker 2+ feeder re-assembly!

Post by LePaul »

I tried a print in Simplify 3D and using the exact same retraction settings as Cura....well somehow that blew up badly
IMG_5385.JPG

I'm trying to put it back together. Removing the cover, once I cleared out the jammed filament, parts flew everywhere!

Where's this round white piece go? And what should I set the tension to for default ? Middle?

Okay I figured out the white piece

But I can't figure out the tension setting screw....I know it goes IN the extruder. Just not sure that default position :)

Gonna assume top of gauge is best. Let's try!

Retractions on s3d are MANY compared to cura. That's why many users move away from the knurled bolt.

Also, none of your friends with s3d have a UM?

Also I bet that you haven't use the profile that was linked long ago

https://ultimaker.com/en/community/2259 ... ply-158298

He has a um2+ extended and if I recall correctly. Just change the Z fro the profile if so.

Also, never use standard s3d profile.

Hi Neotko,
Could you share screen shots of your process settings showing each taps settings for a 200um profile based on PLA.
My 200um profile I can't get right my outer wall is uneven some layers throwing out what seams like an extra wall.
Cheers, Izzy

It looks like Paul is hosting a Gods convention again, with 'Chaos', 'Bad luck' and a few other of those types at his place it will give us a few days of clear printing,

I didn't see the S3D UM2+ profile on Ultimaker, I just thought I would try the one included and change retractions to match Cura. Oh that was a mistake!

But it did complete a 16 hour print overnight so it seems I put it all back together correctly

What should the retraction speed and distance be in S3D?

Um2+ and um2 are the same for slicer settings. But default profile, again, is bad. Please check the link and profile posted

I seen that effect specially if your x/y ain't perfect perfectly square. Could you check?

The tabs, not really just because I use 1.75mm

Cheers Neotko,
I squared my X and Y axis a few weeks ago before Christmas, and they are good now.
And in the middle of fitting Gudo's print bed stabilisers and my Z axis bearings seem good too.

I'm going to print a hollow test tower with a 3x wall thickness in both 100um and 200um steps, initially using the 100um profile and then just altering the layer thickness to try and sort this out.

Chould you put up the profile tabs for the 1.75mm filament anyway, and when I get the ones for 3mm I can add them too. It may help others to dial in theirs as well.
Cheers Izzy

What do I change to make Frederick's UM2+ Extended profile correct for UM2+ ? (yes, just downloaded)

EDIT

So in Frederick's profile he has the volume as...
BuildVolS3D.JPG
BuildVolS3D.JPG (23.09 KiB) Viewed 15365 times
The specs on the Ultimaker show this...
BuildVolumeUM.JPG
BuildVolumeUM.JPG (14.19 KiB) Viewed 15365 times
Should I just key in the UM specs in there for my 2+ ?

He has a lot of interesting fan layer settings as well.

On machine definitions, change the Z to 210mm. The other options should work as they are.
