WOW - Fame at last! 8-)

Just joined up a few days ago and poking about I came across this to my surprise - hope folks are still enjoying these little gadgets. I have loads more things to share like this, and on how I have tamed my UM2 to near perfection, especially with high-temp filament like ABS.

I was going to post these a while ago on the UM Forum, but I found it so unreliable, slow, and temperamental that I gave up trying. But now I am HERE, so expect me to bore you from time to time with lots of gory details (time allowing).

I am surprised though, that my side-feeder mod has not caught on, or even sparked a comment. Even now, 18 months since I originally did it, I have to say that I appreciate it every day and in every way, and it must be the best thing that I have ever done to my precious UM2 workhorse. Why the designers ever thought of hiding the filament reel and feeder round the back beats me! I'd hate to think where they'd put the steering wheel if they ever designed a car

Anyway, I'm off now to post my findings on something rarely discussed - poorly calibrated hot-end temperatures, and its link to frequent nozzle-clogs and filament grinding (from bitter experience).
