Since my um2 tests on umo+ I been wondering about changing the linear bearings of the hotend to Igus. Since they don't 'roll' and just slide it should remove sound on the hotend and ringing since they are shock absorb and also, and very important, they cost 3€ each.
Other interesting think to do could be to change the Linear bearings of the Z bed from the square flanged ones to FJUMT_02_12. That it's almost an instant replacement, but they cost 37€ each... Soooo not on my soon to-do since I already have the cost effective misumi and they are quite fantastic.
Some random video I found about igus vs a linear bearing
So I'm doing this with the um2 hotend, I think it will be a pain to print since my skills on that department are meh, but seem's the basic stuff it's done. Ofc I left room for the bowden to go in without hitting stuff. As soon my order from igus arrives and I print this I'll post print tests of before and after at 5000 aceleration to see the maximum ringing posible and if it affects or it doesn't.

Why not go for sintered bushings directly?

Specially for the shock absorb of the igus. But I know very little so if that should work better please tell.

It sounds and looks like the rods are brushed ?
that would account for the noise, shouldn't they be polished ?

No idea. I just googled and posted a random video. I'm interested on the weight 5 grm vs the lm6luu are 18grm each. That by itself should help with the ringing effect.

Well the first design it's finish and it has it's problems, but it was good to do a test.
The part to make the linear igus bearing fit just like an lm6luu
Check the ringing on the bottom of the completed Robot (not the half cut) that's e3d 0.1 layer 50mm/s 188C Smartmaterials Coral PLA
Now check the half-cut, same gcode, same temp, using igus linear bearings
There's a bit of difference, but probably it's just because the weight from a bearing to the other. So end of the experiment, it doesn't improve enough to keep developing it.
Cheers!
