I'm aiming at a umo+2 XD

My slideblocks are almost finish. Today test with long shaft and a new part it's really promising.

The hard part will be the firmware endstop re-alignment.

So looking at the kit, I've already upgraded to the Olsson block with 35W heater, I've designed and built my own ducts which I very happy with they have a good flow, swivel out of the way giving me good access to the nozzles for changing etc, not to mention look good :-D (tempered to try Gudo's just to see), I'm not worried about the spool holder, I have my own dovetail mounting system that allows me to mount spools or my own filament holder wherever I want not just in one place . About the only thing of interest to me is the improved feeder, I running Roberts feeder but I'm using a hobed gear, I'm going to machine a channeled ring to fit the pressure bearing so as not to flatten fillament.
I don't have the problems some seem to have with poor feed but I could be just lucky there, Roberts feeder works well for me and having fitted some knurled knobs to the screws ( yes another of my designs, check my bits on YouMagine) I can easily adjust the pressure the feeder exerts on the filament.
Therefore I'm torn, does the cost of the upgrade provide me with the value of solutions for problems, also watching 3dSolex site with interest for days now, What is the new announcement!
I'm not sure the upgrade is worth it for me at the current time, I'm also seeing large difference in cost between some countries (could be just bravado) but I'm going to wait for a while. :ugeek:

Meduza wrote:The separate parts will become available to buy as spares from Ultimaker distributors in the future, like most every other Ultimaker part, even if it not is in your local reseller's web store they can get it for you if you request it, be aware of that you now should make that request to your local reseller rather than directly to ultimaker.
I just did send a request for the feeder parts to my local reseller and got the following answer:

"No it is not available as a spare part, it´s only included in the complete Upgrade Kit."

So I will have most probably have to give the AliExpress version a try - which is already available :-(

Has anybody here already ordered one of the copies of the UM2+ feeder from there and has some feedback?

I found a few suppliers but do not know what quality they have:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-upgr ... 67498.html

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/DIY-Upgr ... 38219.html

Based on the price I would also think that they do not include a new feeder motor.

The kit from the guys in Italy is nearly three times the price but they also provide no information about the content of the kit - I sent them an email, I hope they answer:

Is the upgrade feeder that much of an improvement on 'Roberts' with a hobbed gear?
I've been testing different filaments, ABS, HIPS, PLA, Flexyables, plus others.
Some have been soft and will stay squashed if too much pressure is used, I can reduce the pressure very easly and quickly so as not damage the filament with Roberts, I also have a modified guide that has very little clearance for flexible filament and a small hole so I can add a pipe cleaner with oil to lubricate and reduce Bowden tube friction, the only one I failed to print with was CF0 by Oo-kuma, a Carbon fibre ABS, I struggled to get a decent feed pressure to print with it, although to be fair the tolerance on the diameter was poor, ranging from 2.6 to 2.9 and slightly lumpy, I've given up on this one at the moment.

I would like to be able to use flexible filaments and these do not work too well with the IRobertI feeder for me - even with the additional guide. Since the UM2+ feeder is supposed to be better on flexible filaments, I would like to give it a try - without buying unneeded spare parts for 400€ :-)
