NFC scan plug port

Post by LePaul »

I am so, so , so disappointed

I unboxed one of the Ultimaker 3 printers and upon trying to plug the NFC cable into the plug, it won't go.

The plug in the printer is mis-aligned and the cable has that wide plastic shroud around it. There's no way, without risking breaking it, that cable can see to go in. I've asked Sander about it and hope he has some ideas.....have any of you guys run into this issue?

I don't have an UM3, but isn't that just a remove the cover, loosen the mainboard and push it a little in the right direction and fasten it again job? Normally these screws have a little bit of slag and if the cover is moved to the lower end of that and the board to the upper end of that slag for example, you could end up in such a situation.

Just... Remove the power brick, A20 little red board is highly susceptible to electrostatic discharge. Or use proper equipment for electrostatic stuff.

But I don't recommend you do it (as I don't want to get blame for :P )

Erin and Sander sent me some pictures and documentation on how to repair this

No cats/static inducing mammals will be allowed in the room :)

Apparently these can come out alignment in shipping, I just hadn't seen any posts where this has happened to anyone other than me (big surprise, right?)

I did a Facebook live playing with the new Ultimaker 3

I checked the port on the NFC plug, not sure how to really move it around. I just plugged the cable in with the cover off and closed it up

It doesn't detect the spools. Fail 1

Network is a slow process. I did let the printer upgrade it's firmware

Using the App to "Print the Ultimaker Robot" doesn't work.

Cura 2.5 is extremely slow once you have the printer networked in. I mean, very.

I also noticed just feeding filament into the feeder is very, very slow.

I did one print last night with PLA and that went ok. Simon noticed I had a very loose belt, which is fixed now.

I tried a print with PLA and PVA but it failed, giving a z-stepper error/bed won't lower. The object also came off the build plate, so filament spaghetti this morning.

In summary...this printer is a mess. And when it does do things, it is VERY VERY slow.

I'm going to take another crack at a PLA/PVA print (with a few dabs of gluestick this time)

I am stumped as to why Cura performs so slowly since connecting to the UM3?

Well another night, another two failures.

I think I see the problem. Watch this video and how awful the sounds are....I don't think the PVA nozzle is raising when it should

Make sure the second core does 'click' as i fully inserted. Also it could be a bad ass clog preventing the core from going up or the filament grinded.

But why did it work find on the lower layers?
I'll check for ground filament by the extruder

With Erin's assistance, I ran the calibration -> calibrate lift switch and am doing a test print now.

That'll be nice if that's all it was!
