Is there a max number of times you can flash a Arduino/Genuino Mega 2560

Found what I expected to find. Though I am having problems flashing on one machine.
It took 4 flashes and many M502-M500's to get the last flashes to respond without software locking up in mid print.
I See no way to change How Aduino IDE flashes, (I mean Flash slower may set the Flash more reliably)
I searched google and came up with nothing useful.
