Hi all,
Having some trouble here with getting a good quality print. I printed on a HICTOP 3DP17 using Cura. My firmware is the 398 version sent to me by HICTOP, as I had some trouble with Chip's firmware that I haven't yet worked out entirely.
Anyhow, I tried to print a 3D truck model and despite the STL model looking good, and setting the print quality to 0.06 mm, 1.6mm shell thickness, 80% fill density and a 40 mm/sec print speed, this is what I ended up with....
I am thinking under-extrusion-ie, not enough material being sent through? I set the flow % in Cura to 140, but no improvement.
One thing is, When I first got the printer, the inductive Z-sensor didn't work right and the nozzle gouged out the bed pretty significantly. Given it is a brass nozzle, could nozzle damage account for what I am seeing? I did another print (attached too) which did better, but was supposed to be solid, not a grid...
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Printing issue
It looks like you only have a couple of top and bottom layers.
I usuall print with 2 or 3 wall thickness, and 10-12 top and bottom layers so that all boundaries are the same thickness approximatly.
Depending on the material it can take 2 or 3 layers to get a solid top layer and another couple to get it smooth, this also depends on the % infill it is bridging
