Re: New Ultimaker 3
Unlikely. It's not a major trade show or similar right now (except Hannover Messe, but it has already started) as far as I know.
But most likely new machines will be presented not too far into future...
Edit: I hope, the site is closed for a fix of the unread-post-bug...

Re: New Ultimaker 3
Well last time they were closed we got the 2+
And they hinted earlier of newer machines with bigger build volumes.
Or...their developer is working on some fixes (sorely needed!)

Re: New Ultimaker 3
The question is if you have just to login again after the break or if you cannot login anymore...

Re: New Ultimaker 3
Hmmm, it first stated it was going to be until 5 PM,
now there is no mention of when they will return, guess it's taking longer then they think

Re: New Ultimaker 3
I doubt we'll get UMs with a much larger build volume given the heap of arguments why it isn't a good idea (by nallath I think).
Still... I can see myself buy a printer with a slightly lower top speed if it were to feature direct drive

I agree. Direct drive is THE feature that would convince me to spend some money on a bigger upgrade kit.

Re: New Ultimaker 3
You mean by ball screws? For the x and y axis... this is what's called direct drive iirc...
Or do you mean direct drive extruder... ?

Re: New Ultimaker 3
I mean direct drive extruder. An extruder with the feeder motor attached as close to the hotend as possible. Something that pulls filament into the extruder instead of pushing it through the bowden tube into it.

Re: New Ultimaker 3
Oh, this is very unlikely to happen at Ultimaker. They just developed a new geared feeder which cannot be used as direct drive extruder. They will stay with the Bowden principle for the time being I think... but the World does not consist only of Ultimaker, does it?
