UMO @24V - what needs to be changed?

Post by drayson »

hi!

currently playing around withthe idea to mount UM3 core at my dual UMO.
Same as UM2, they have a 24v heater and as far as I know it is possible to exchange the LM7812 by a RECOM R-78C12 DC-DC switching regulator.
BUT:
what else needs to be modified...?
PID settings? stepper settings (I already changed to silent step sticks)? other FW related settings?

any hint appreciated...

The RECOM R-78C12 DC-DC is way more expensive than a LM2596, I would recommend getting the latter as for the same price you can get 5-6 of them.
You then need to change the heater cartridge and that's it :)

Thats the way, aha, aha, i like it.... Aha, Aha... :-)
Thanks :-)

I earned that most heater cartridges are 6mm x 20mm so a bit different than the ones for the UMO block, but I guess that's not a big deal.
All stuff on order - 24V 120W PSU, 24V 40W cartridges, a few extra stuff like k-type sensors and converter boards as spare... soon...

If you get E3D's block that is compatible with the UMO head.
