Friendly reminder to make sure your wiring is done properly

Post by Pankh »

Recently I redid my maker select v2 with a ramps 1.4 and ATX PSU upgrade. It's fantastic, I highly recommend it (even though it took forever). The instructional I found said to use terminal blocks to connect the wires, so I did that. I don't recommend it. Not only is it a royal pain to fit everything into the case, but the terminal blocks are finicky.
Got a notification while printing that my bed temp wasn't correct, checked the graph on octoprint and both temps had just dropped off. So I went down to check and the printer smelled like cancerous death. Took it apart and sure enough, the terminal blocks failed. Thank god octoprint/klipper/ramps/whatever was smart enough to cut off power, since it's in the basement I wouldn't have noticed until probably far too late.
