Thanks, never really have been gone though. I still read here regularly, but I haven't had much time to print anything lately so I haven't been posting much ;)

For an upcoming motion detector based LED strip project I needed a way to enable/disable the whole solution so that it is only active during the night. So I fired up Fusion 360 and came up with this nice little case:

It contains a Sonoff Basic with the Tasmota firmware for switching the power over MQTT from my home automation system and the PCB from the 12V wall wart power supply that came with the LED strip set:

The case can be screwed to the wall and I used M3 brass inserts for the lid to avoid damaging the threads by using it too often.

It's been fairly quiet here....I stop pop in a lot to see whose chatting...and I keep plugging the site in my YouTube videos (in the description text)

Hi, gang! Too much work atm. New job, new places, new hardware to support. Prepare for Siemens SCADA controllers and PCS7 certification.

Starting to get back into printing again...had to reprint the vital parts of my #gudoZGE since the one I printed in Greentec started to be “sloppy”. It did last me a year though.

The temp resistance of Greentec may be really good...but the mechanical resistance does not look so good over time.

For now I printed the replacement in plain PLA, but I will soon reprint them in PC or some other sturdy material.

Here are some photos of the new parts printing a 10 hr piece, that came out pretty good, except for the shell, due to Cura’s bad default of printing infill before shell. I did not know, or notice, that, as the settings UI in Cura is all but user friendly

Weird, on my Cura (3.4.1 Linux edition), the default is to print the infill before the shell and my prints come out great. I think the surface quality could be better if you turned on ironing mode. I have seen a surface quality improvement in doing so.

This is the 3.4.1 Mac version, using the default UMO profile. And ironing won't help here since that only affects the top layer.

It will iron everything it considers to be a top layer, essentially any layer that doesn't have anything directly above it. Not just the highest layer of the whole print.

Exactly, as I said...the top layer...the layer, at any point in XY, that has nothing above it ;)
My issues were not with the top layer...it was the sides...where you could clearly see the infill.

You may think that the piece in the photo was printed like in the photo...but it was not.

I am in London this week on business. If somebody has recommendations for good restaurants in London, let me know ;-)
