What is the deal with having a chat section of a forum? Please do as Ultimaker did and just connect a web IRC client to a forum IRC channel so i can hang there in my usual IRC client among the other ~35 different channels i follow :-)

Or simply link to the Ultimaker IRC, it is not very active anyway, or might that be considered as offensive? :-D

Ha...I'm really not sure how they would feel about that.

Usermap changes completed.

I gave in a little bit... :D

1) Unit of measure is back to Metric

2) In a show of resistance, I zoomed back the map. However, i DID make the center a holy spot for me. (53.344444, -6.288889) Care to guess?

+1 for Meduzas suggestion of dropping the mChat in favor of a web based IRC plugin that is connected to the #ultimaker channel.

If I can find such an extension that does that

For now I might leave things alone for a few days.

I think it would be nice to link to/webclient into UM IRC. It shows we are not gone, just that some of us quite dislike the new forum, or keep losing the interesting topics in the masses.

qwebirc on a separate page is what most forums use, it is a little aged now tough, so KiwiIRC that Ultimaker uses might be a better option: https://kiwiirc.com/

I see there is a thread about this on the phpBB at https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2322626

But I just lost two hours of my life undoing problems with the moderator profile, which is what I had to do to split up the off topic thread you guys had elsewhere. :) I think I need another PHP savvy admin someday

SandervG contacted me for another reason today so I actually him asked about using the #ultimaker IRC as a common chat for both forums.
We will see what he replies on that :-D

SandervG replied:
I don't think I mind linking the two forum's to the same chatroom, but I don't appreciate if it would be used as a pool to
redirect people to the other forum. I don't think this is an unreasonable request.
:-)
I guess it would have to be clear that it is just a link if we use #ultimaker as the chat for this forum.

Not sure what my opinion is in the end.
On one hand I really liked the chat on the old forum, where one could see on the forum how many users was online in the chatroom.
On the other hand it would be nice to combine users from both forums to bring back some life to the #ultimaker IRC as there are like 10-15 users online now days and rarely any activity.
