Auto-rotate attached images

Post by nilrog »

Would be nice if the forum could obey the orientation metadata in photos when they are attached to a post :-)

Almost no photos that I try to attach ends up in the correct orientation. I need to head over to a photo editor...rotate the image...even if it is not needed...and save it before this forum shows it correctly.

What camera do you use to take the pictures?

I've done some research and the problem lies between the user and keyboard :)

It's a known issue that happens sometimes. I don't see it very often tho

To clarify, the Thumbnail will be wrong but when clicked, the photo will display correctly

So the problem is with the forum because...

A: It happens only to thumbnails?
B: It only happens here...no where else ;)

This image should look normal...but at least in preview while writing this post it is rotated.

The reason why the original looks ok is because it's the original...displayed by the browser...which honors the orientation data in the picture.

Well you can post on and on and on about it....there's no fix, from what I have seen in phpBB in this version. Perhaps the next

Found a thread, started 3yrs ago, but updated, where the developer "blames" users for the problem (remember "antenna gate")...when it would take them 10 mins to fix...OSS in a nutshell :-?

So this is not going to be fixed. Less images posted...I never click to view the originals...I only look at the thumbnails. So I want them rotated properly...even if I have to go through an editor to "fix" it...

Enough ranting...I know it's nothing that you can control @LePaul...and I'm too lazy to fix it for them 8-)
