A bit of BB-8 progress

Post by LePaul »

Here's the PLA test pieces I did a few weeks ago, assembled, showing a section of what the frame will look like (Momma Cat sniffing her approval)

Here's 9 of the nGen pieces made up, using the stronger infill pattern (Triangle). 15 to go! (24 for a complete frame)

Sadly, this part wouldn't fit in the Ultimaker 3 so that printer is off the wish list. It has a smaller build area than the 2+

I thought "cubic" was stronger than "triangle" as an infill due it's 3D structure.
Do you have any further documentation/comparison between the two?

None officially from Ultimaker/Cura

Honeycomb is supposed to be the best but Cura doesn't have it, Triangles is second best from the article someone posted on the UM forum

Grid is awful :) I know that much!

I'd also like to see the details on the new infill patterns added to the 2.4 beta

Here's my source on Cubic infill, which was ported back in UM Cura after I made a post on this on this forum :)

That's a good link

As good as Cura is, they do not document many of the items the program has. I really wish they would improve that.
