One of the first pieces for the external portion of BB-8...1/4 segment of the many rings that make up his body.

Being a curved object, this project will feature a LOT of support material :)

This print came out very good!

Well this piece is landfill...a victim of Cura 2.1.2 autoscaling... it's only 92%

That's a part of the new Cura that really bugs me  , sometime you can miss the auto scale message and not realise untill you've built it, now i check everybsingle part every time, but it would be nice to be able to toggle auto scale OFF :geek:

I agree completely.

I knew the part would take some work to fit the build plate just right...it has to print it at an angle since it is too wide where Cura loads it by default.

Why that is on by default is frustrating.

Just wondering. Maybe you could try this idea scaled down 25% to see if it's ok. Rotate the object 90 so you only needs supports on the outside circle, using the rooftops option innew cura or 2-3 solid supports on s3d. That should leave a smoth surface, but weaker because layer bonding...

Well the files have gone under some extensive testing as to what gives the best print results. But...can't hurt to see if making it more vertical helps!

I tried a small version and printing more vertical...it came out badly. I'm going to stick to their suggested print alignment and support structures. (Unless you want to try it...file compressed and attached!) :)
