Slicer issues?
Was printing this 'ultimate extruder calibration' .stl to test some printer functions. It appeared to do fairly well for no calibrations on e-steps yet. However if you look at the left object and observe the strange twisting of the 2nd and 3rd step's of the object, the right side of the front vertical face is best I can describe is 'twisted'. The first step layer appears to be OK, so is the left side of each 'step'. I'm puzzled.
Link to .stl file here:

You can see some stringing between the two objects, and it gets worst toward the top.
Settings: Slic3r, layers 0.2, infill 0, perimeters 3, nozzle 205, bed 60/50, PLA batch 1

Maybe it's backlast from the short belts?

Backlash will not cause a miss-print. Look again at what it should have printed on the host, and the actual printed part. Think of 'stairs', the vertical walls on step 2 and step 3 on the left object are twisted and not vertical.Neotko wrote:Maybe it's backlast from the short belts?

Do you can attach your gcode of this model?

Re: Slicer issues?
Of note, the object was sliced within and printed from Repetier Host and not from an SD.ivan.akapulko wrote:Do you can attach your gcode of this model?
Unfortunately, the g-code file is unable to be uploaded here, I tried pasting it into
Code: Select all
but the file is too large for this forum settings. I will look for another method as I do not have a drop box or other external cloud storage right now. Let me see what I can do and PM Paul about possibly allowing .gco and source files to be able to be attached to messages.
That was my next step, to learn more about Marlin G-code, commands, settings, etc. Almost there, already have printed out the g-code reference list for Marlin. More reading to do... Thanks.

Do you have google account? If yes, you may share it via GDrive or somerhing similar. Its free and simple.
Also it makes sense to use Cura, selecting Prusa I3 (it looks similar to your printer), and selecting standard g-code instead UltiGcode. And then compare the files between them.

Re: Slicer issues?
Chip, put it into a ZIP file and attach. I suggest 7-ZIP, works very nicely

Yes, it will test and tax your printers bridging abilities and other print attributes. What host software are you using in the photo?

May try Cura out for what you mentioned. Also zip file was added in this thread.ivan.akapulko wrote:Do you have google account? If yes, you may share it via GDrive or somerhing similar. Its free and simple.

Re: Slicer issues?
Ah!
Now I see what you are trying to print...
You are actually missing all the floors. The problem is your slicer (or the way it is setup for the bottom/top layers)

Re: Slicer issues?
Interestingly Cura default Prusa i3 settings worked and I'm pretty sure Slic3r was set for 3 top/bottom = now to debug Slic3r.
Also, getting close on calibration and updating source code and the firmware. No more tweaking: just power the printer up, slice and print. Sure is nice to have defaults in firmware and your slicer program that will cover most parameters without timely editing prior to prints. Learning it...
Pictures to follow. Marlin HIC i3 v1.1.0-RC3.
