Multiple Print Failures

Hello,
So I purchased a new Creality CR-10 S5 and I have tried multiple prints using PLA and PETG. The parts have not come out decent or not at all. I have tried different temperatures and layer settings. I am using Amazon basics material for all of these. Did I just get a bad machine that I need to send back? I am using Cura 3.6 with recommended setting for the slicing I have been trying different infill amounts to see the difference in strengths. The issues are the layers are not sticking together and a crazy amount of stringing when the head moves around the parts. The area I am running the printer in is dry and room temp around 68. Looking for advice here.
