Found the rotation tool!
S3D go to Tools>Options> Tick box "Always show full 3d transform gizmo"

I asked on the BB-8 Builders Group if such a 'mouse-driven' way to move an object existed
I mean....if this was shown by default, there would be a lot more people using that program!
