In theory you could reuse the heat sensor, but I never saw anyone doing the mod (it would need a top um2 plastic modded to hold the little board amplifier).

Yeah the whole hotend minimum goes around 190€, but I think the key to success would be to make a peek of aluminium, add cooling like um2 for the peek/alu and use the tfm/tfm umo coupler that 3dsolex sells.

I was going to do that but since I wanted to print better I just changed all my umo+ hotends to um2. And yeah the heater of umo doesn't work since it's 6mm dia and olsson uses 4mm dia heater.

I'm curious if you guys have printed with any of those materials and if you experience shrinkage or warping

For the BB-8 build, I am sticking to PLA, since we are using 50% infill....but BB-8 will house electronics, get some sun exposure and get warm. I am interested in what you guys think would be a better material?

Hi Paul, I would look at some of the HT PLAs, Proto-pasta (http://www.proto-pasta.com/collections/ ... ance-htpla) have some high performance PLAs that can be heat treated, there Aromatic Coffee and Aromatic Pine were very nice to print with, see if they can give you a sample of the White to test out.
If you wanted to try ABS, then I would try Reprapper's ABS, but you will need to have a hood and a simple door, but once you have it dialled in its very nice and has a higher print speed.

My concern with the heat treating is shrinkage....all these (140+) parts need to line up!

Then ABS is not for you :) It shrinks quite a bit.

Speaking of baking the prints...

I heard good things about the materials at the Ultimaker Session, but can't recall which should be better suited for heat. I guess UMforums could help you.
Haven't found the time/model to test the new material samples out myself yet though.

Hi guys...

So if I wanted to print a part cooling fan, something that sits close to the print head...which of the Ultimaker materials would be your pick? Ultimaker PC , CPE? I think that environment might be too warm for Nylon and I just don't want to mess with ABS

I would probably go for the PC, even if it is a bit harder to print.

p.s. I just ordered a spool of PC. Erin @ Fabrc8 said she's had a lot of success with this stuff.

Ultimaker PC is great although it also deformation a bit when used very close to the nozzle/block e.g. for a fan duct.

I think this will sit far enough away?

Yes, sure. I was talking of fan ducts that come very close to the hot parts (2mm).
