Pulled the trigger...fbrc8 UM2 refurb

After many weeks of saving...I just ordered one of the Fabrc8 Refurbished UM2 printers. I have a UM2+ Extruder Upgrade Kit that I bought a couple of months ago, so when I am ready, can do the upgrade.

Ideally, I wanted the Extended but just couldn't save up quite enough to get me there. (Darn motorcycle hasn't sold!)

Still, for $1299 and a like-new warranty, I feel this is a great deal. I'm pretty excited to see this when it arrives.

And with two printers, I can start to make a dent in the pile of parts my BB-8 needs!

Grats but...

Just before it arrives a couple thinks you might need to know:

- Doesn't work with ultigcode
- The default profile also sucks
- You also need to change start gcode

And grats men, you saved a good amount of cash from a full um2+ with that kit I think?

I belive some part is missing here, @Neotko seems to be talking about using Simplify3D with the UM2, while i cannot see any mention of Simplify3D in the thread?

And congratulations to your new printer @LePaul, you will surely not be dissapointed with a UM2+!

Indeed but I know that he was upset a bit with s3d not working or having a profile for umo with bed, so I prefer to tell him in advance not to get angry with s3d, because while it has a profile for it, it's not good at all.

Well I like Cura and I am still *trying* to make sense of and *like* Simplify 3D. The fact the defaults for my printer are essentially unusable is a big turn off.

However...

I noticed on the Prusa site, they offer a S3D file for download, tweaked and improved with community feedback. That's really neat.

Well the printer arrived today. I had UPS hold it for pick up since I am at work when the UPS truck comes by (whenever that is?)

I had enough time to bring it home and place the box in the basement. Now I have to wait until I get home this evening to check it out.

I'm curious about the condition of the printer, being a refurbished model and if they were nice enough to include a free spool of filament :P

Finally got to unpack the refurb UM2.

And they included filament! :)

I'll do my first prints tomorrow night

Looks good on the workbench!

Put them on Lazy Susan's, it make all round access very easy as you can just rotate the printer :-) https://www.youmagine.com/designs/lazy- ... nter-stand

You can also now have a pair or Duck Ducts like mine

Well next up will be installing the Ultimaker 2+ Extruder upgrade. As others have said, don't bother using it until I have done the upgrade. Avoid the problem areas :)

Congrats, sounds like a great deal!

@Izzy, that lazy susan looks like a great idea. If I find some place I can get a bearing like that I might just make one myself :)

My R2-D2's use a 17" diameter rockler bearing for the dome movement. I'd just have to built a mount/platform for the rockler/lazy susan to mount to, perhaps a way to lock it in place too

Hi MTVDNA,
From my little white note book or my UM2, Bearing shop uk at www.bearingshop.co.uk 12" round lazy Susan bearing was £13.00

Thanks for the link. I live in the Netherlands, and shipping is almost as expensive as the bearing itself. So I am gonna try and see if I can find one locally first :)

IKEA has a lazy susan. It's called Snudda.
