Hi Neotko , thanks !
We play with a very small layers thicks, 0.25 , 0.4 .... so I think that any improvement in the motion would be good for the print results, may be I'm too much perfectionist

That is very impressive gudo!
I am particularly interested in the experiences with PBI since it has potential to permanently solve the PLA issues with no drawbacks.
Did you try printing other materials than PLA yet?

Thanks Anders !
This polymer is really very promising for 3D print , thanks to its characteristics, it used yet in many industrial plastic injection machine components , it's a very good thermal insulator also, all my prototype parts are printed in PLA at 210°, I haven't noticed any déformation problems, except a light one in the right bottom area of the heat sink fan shroud which is closed to the ( your) heat block.
I'm sure now that the PIB solve permanently the PLA issues, I"ll atke time to test at higher temp other materials in the days to come.

Thanks! I do that for my print head project, it's will be a bit tricky with the UM2 stock print head because of there is not so much space at " home position ", risk of collusion if raise the bed ! needed to make the supports in a flat piece of high grade alluminium.

Gudo, i have some thoughts about your print head, it looks like you have copied the aluminium heat sink designs and i belive you are going with way too many and too long fins, since the PBI has so low thermal conductivity the upper fins and the outer edges of the fins will never get hot, you could probably reduce your material use by 50% and still get the same performance...?

Hi to all
I'm still in my investigations concerning the use of PBI
I tested especially with the PLA filament, to understand the behavior of the polymer
Everything goes well except that I foolishly broke a coupler by overtightening the heat block,

fortunately I had planned to spare.
Normal Cura settings for PLA
rétractation distance test at 2.5mm/40mm/s

The hot/cold zone is very short ;

the 2 or 3 firsts layers of a sérial square objects on a large print surface

Hi Meduza
As initially I was a bit in the unknown, I had exaggerated the number of fins for cooling
You're right ! of trying now I think also that this can be reduced may be by 50%, that's what I started to do before breaking a coupler by overtightening the Olsson block, I had taken 2 fins to begin....

Hi to all
Sorry to monopolize the post, it's just a willingness to share!

I'm still in my trips of print head
Originally before finalizing PBI print head, I drew this one, and I am back on this project while I am satisfied with the results of PBI project,
This one may be easier and less expensive to realize
It is an alternative print head which the support is aluminum and which reuses some original components of the UM2 the all screwed to the customized XY carriage .The goal was mainly finally to improving and to doing something that is very easy to access with minimum handling, no screws are needed for the exception of the sensor/cartridge locking screw.
This is the first assembly, there remains only the heat sink fins to make before becoming operational for testing.

Thanks to you !
I do not count my time, I took early retirement last 7 months, I have all my time
the largest time is spent in reflection and CAD drawing, it's 90% of the work done, and then after when machining that is really relaxing !
