Re: Hictop Upgrades
I run about 40 to 50mm/sec max print speed for 'detail' parts, non-printing feed rate of about 200mm/sec, all accelerations capped at 1200. I'm happy with mine, it's no speed demon, but it has printed perfect a '3D Benchy', 'Ulti'robot', test objects et. all at 0.1mm height with outstanding results....

Re: Firmware Marlin-1.1.0-RC6 - now running
Just a quick thanks Chip Excellent The PID autotune values were too unstable though Ultimaker default PID,auto bed leveling working great. The Configuration.h file Ultimaker default PID when used on my 3DP-12 HIC i3 was very un-stable. After running auto-tune (you can see the changes in the file) m...

Re: HIC i3 - first time assembly : suggestions and mod's
thanks so much for these suggestions and mods. I took your advice and bought new bearing and upgraded the PSU wire. I will most likely buy a new PSU as well. I bought new z axis threaded rods and brass nuts since one of the nuts was effectively useless due to pretty much no threads inside. Upon fir...

Re: Firmware Marlin-1.1.0-RC6 - UPDATE
UPDATE: Have changed the default ACCELERATIONS as indicated below to cap all accelerations to 1200. Below is the code affected and also a archive version of the complete <Configuration.h> file if you want. So, either edit your <Configuration.h> file using the code segment, or just replace your file...

Re: Print Bed Upgrades
Amazon has replacements but you may need to upgrade or downgrade size as the Hictop is a non-standard size. Other option is get some 1/4" angle iron and reinforce the metal by screwing it to the underside of your existing frame. The frame is poorly designed in my opinion. Or, since it is simpl...

Re: Hictop Upgrades
May I suggest taking the quad-y-linear bearings to the next step? I upgraded to supported 12mm with adjustable bearings and won't go back. I loose some z height, but the bed is rock solid with no play. Next will be ballscrews for the z-rails and a dual bowden setup for the print heads. People forge...

Re: Firmware Marlin-1.1.0-RC6 - now running
Chip, Thank you for your work on this and sharing your results. You seem to have asked all the questions I did not know to ask. A quick change I'd like to point out for those with the the 1.4 board and/or 8mm lead screw as opposed to threaded rod. Z-steps: start at 396 and calibrate from there. Tha...

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information
Hey Chip got everything running pretty good with the E3d v6 and the titan extruder, life is good with PLA so I started to experiment with other materials first thing I noticed is my bed would not get over 85. So I upgraded the power supply and wires as recommended and It still will not go over 85. ...

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information
@Chip_M It sounds like we have the same printer. I have attached the latest firmware for my printer (The Hictop 3DP17) I was sent it this morning. Compiled .HEX version: Marlin_3DP17_398.cpp.hex.zip Source Code: Marlin_3DP17_398.rar I ripped some of the configuration values from there, and everythi...

Re: MK8 MK9 Dual Extruder Upgrade
That looks to be a pretty nice setup. Myself have never configured for a dual extruder so cannot chime in here. However, have you tried searching the RepRap Forums or the internet? Let us know how it works out.

Re: HIC i3 - Power Supply Upgrade
Just an update... I did some voltage measurements at the RAMPS board to see what effect the relay modification and upgraded wiring had. Idle (no heating): 12.41 V at input to board PLA Preheat (bed and hot end): 12.39 V at input to board. Essentially no voltage drop at input to board. Works for me!...

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information
Just a followup note...we must have an older Hic i3 since I needed to change the default_axis_steps_per_unit for the z axis from 2560 to 394 in order to get the proper z axis movement (checking with the move Z axis knob function). I found the original value back in the rep-rap wiki for the Hic i3. ...

Re: HICTOP - Software
I bought the HICTOP i3 prusa for my dad. I have a MakersToolWorks Medelmax 3.0 that runs on Repetier host. I'd like have my dad convert his HICTOP over to using Repetier so that we use the same software so I can help him debug better. And he lives 2000 miles away. Please give me the steps needed to...

Re: [News] Prusa i3 MK2 release!
Paul, I have noticed the web search like "Hictop firmware" and bam your right towards the top of the search. You are welcome I've now made you famous, and if you ever sell this domain I want part of the proceeds. <G> Ultimaker's were out of my budget and had heard a lot about them, but thi...
