Re: SketchUp with Cura 2.3.1
It depends on what you are doing...
For what I do, I ended up using Fusion 360. It is free for students and hobbyists.
I like this chart -- it is not very recent, but it gives some overview...

Re: Why the UMO has fans on electronics?
It is definitely for the motor drivers... I've seen people running without fan, but they let the air circulating (with holes in the bottom panel of the UMO). I looked at my UMO+ which has an Ultiboard 2 and the PCB is brown around some drivers, so that board should also benefit from heat-sinks / coo...

Re: SketchUp with Cura 2.3.1
If my memory serves well, there is also an option in sketchup to save ´selected objects' instead of ´all' . That way you don't have to delete anything. On a side note, I used sketchup quite a lot in the past, but I eventually stepped away from it because it is too easy to make non-manifold models wh...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
My plan is to refurbish completely the machine, so I don't think it will print anything before next yearLePaul wrote:I'm curious how it performs...same? Better? Worse? than the stock?
But the idea is to use it mainly for materials that the UMO hot end can't print because of the temperature...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
For once I had a quiet week-end -- it didn't happened since ages  So I eventually decided to do something with the E3d hot end I bought years ago. I already started some design a couple of weeks ago, but then I was inspired with what they did for the UM2, so I made a similar version for the UM...

Re: SketchUp with Cura 2.3.1
Hi!
Maybe the first things to check are the Cura preferences. There is an evil one called 'Scale large model' which is checked by default and that one will almost silently resize your models...

I use the 'korneel' method: gas burner and alcohol.

Re: UMO / UMO+ Firmware
Not sure I get the question correctly...
My firmware fork fully support the 'Full Graphic Smart Controller', this is what I have on my UMO.

Re: Any good source for decent linear bearings and rods in EU?
@Paul, thanks, by it is a bit crazy, and if goes through customs prices are going to be ballistic ;) @Izzy, yes I'll try to see with them -- I am very tempted to try their DryLin, it is what they have in the BQ Witbox printers and result was very good. It won't be worse than my Chinese bearings anyw...

Re: Any good source for decent linear bearings and rods in EU?
I already looked at Igus, but I only found their DryLin series...
Do they also have linear ball bearings? I could not find them.
The good thing with Igus is they sell any quantities to anybody...

Any good source for decent linear bearings and rods in EU?
I eventually took the decision to refurbish my old UMO.
Does anybody have a source for good hardware in EU?
Don't answer Misumi -- they don't sell to individuals so I can't order from them...

Re: Cura 2.3.1
FYI for the TweakAtZ addicts... I scratched my head hours reading the code and looking at the diffs to understand why my favorite plugin^h^h^h^h^h^h post processing script wasn't working anymore -- or at least not consistently. It turned out that the culprit is CuraEngine which does not print leadin...
