Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Spend the last two days at a 3D printing event (RapidPro, Netherlands) with my 3d printed jewelry, and one more day to go.. Most work is SLS printed polyamide and some metals like silver, brass, steel and titanium. But the little UM2Go also shines :-D use it to print simple pla rings optimized for th...

Re: Best speed and temps?

both are right!
faster means more heat to get the filament melted in time
slower/cooler is for the more detailed parts like overhangs
Totally depends on the model.. usually set a default and dial it faster or slower if needed as the print progresses (have to be around though)

Re: Fan shroud upgrade

here it is
the aluminum is cut and a little sawing (jeweler stuff) and then bend, the dents indicate where to bend
Good luck!

Re: Fan shroud upgrade

sure, but the drawing is for 40 mm fans, the aluminum thickness is 0.5 mm because next right to the heater block/peek is the narrowest part.
You might redesign some details....

euhmm, can I attach dxf's??

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

you cannot be to careful with these things, a lot of symptoms can show years later, like metal particles building up. I know... after working for 25 years as a jeweler...

Re: Unread posts in the whole forum

yes, I noticed. There are so many ways/systems/combinations, I use Mac/safari, cmd and left arrow keys or use the mouse to press the 'page back arrow' but they don't reload. Have to do an extra cmd and R to reload.
In the UM forum it works though, but slower...

Re: Unread posts in the whole forum

found the 'unread posts' button already, but returning to the unread list, the topic I just read is still marked as unread. Only reloading the page changes that. Do you have any influence in that or is this something on the user side browser/computer related?

Re: Fan shroud upgrade

sure, could be great also. These ones aren't perfect either I guess, but like you said, I also like the simplicity. I always prefer adjustment possibilities, like bending them a bit up or down when necessary, and I like the transparency; not to have an enormous closed volume around the printhead. I ...

Re: Fan shroud upgrade

I have seen it! when working on this I looked at all the available designs... but 4 of them, isn't that al lot?? (and a lot of tape..) I found that two smaller ones are already more then one. I didn't want to channel the airflow close to the nozzle, because the printhead moves away from the printed ...

Re: ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber Filament

flow was 100%, for the metal filled filaments I use a 105%. I remember I had some blue tape on the glass (and heated bed), because the touch surface is small, only a few lines wide. Added a little brim to help there, 5 lines, which are also helpful for the leveling at the start. Hardly do any bed le...

Re: ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber Filament

2016-02-25 08.33.22.jpg the print I did, a phone case, with XT-CF20 was pretty amazing! That surface looks and feels real impressive! The best phone case I made so far. All the others would split along the horizontal lines, like flex and woodfill. Settings: layer height: 0.16 speed: 30 mm/s temp: 2...

Re: Fan shroud upgrade

always get confused with the series/paralel thing....., thanks for the explanation! I choose smaller fans because I could shift them both a little out of the center, so the left one is a little to the front and the right a little to the back. So the air would not 'clash' in the middle. Nothing calcu...
