Re: smoothing out a surface
The stl file will always be made up of triangles. You can still get a smooth looking surface as long as the Cad program your using does a smooth surface. Usually you have a setting on export to define the accuracy of the stl file. More accurate, larger file. I haven't tried using other formats for 3...

Re: smoothing out a surface
I use blender to "decimate" stl files, that is, to reduce the number of triangles. I then import the new file into Freecad and save it as a step file so I can work on it.
I'm not able to smooth the part but I can then work on it in a CAD program, like adding or taking away features.

Re: smoothing out a surface
Hi t4gp3
There is no easy way to smooth this out. It's a stl file which is make up of triangles. It has been exported from a 3D modelling software.
There are various programs that can work with this file format (stl), but as far as I know they can't turn the triangles into smooth surfaces.

I only use Sunlu now and it's always been consistent for me. I haven't bought any recently so I can't say about supply problems.

Re: Anycubic Photon M3 Premium
I have 2 resin printer, I've had the first one a few years now. Once you get the hang of them they are great, the learning curve isn't as steep as an FDM, in my opinion. The main thing to understand is the supports and the angle of the print. Sometime it's better to put the part at an angle to get a...

I think Chitubox is the best for resin, that's what I use.

Re: Globby Resin Prints - Elego Saturn 2 and Lychee
The basic problem is you are trying to print a flat area, think about it. You have all these supports then the next 0.05mm is a big flat thin piece of cured resin, it going to flap around. Put the print at an angle: 45deg.png Can you see that the printer is only doing a small area at each layer does...

Re: Globby Resin Prints - Elego Saturn 2 and Lychee
This type of thing is normal with resin printers. You can reduce it by putting more supports in. The other option is to have the face flat on the bed, this can cause other problems if your not careful. Another solution is to put the part at an angle, say 45°, it all depends on the shape of the print...

Re: Coffee Chat 2023
Wow you have been busy Paul and congratulation on your Bachelor's degree. I'm out of action for a bit as I crashed on my bike and broke my hip, got a new one 4 days later. I'm hobbling about with a walking stick, but still managed to get a small print done. I'm waiting until I can sort out my JGauro...

Hi replishape.
Thanks for that, I'll have a play around with these settings.
Do you have any recommendations as to what values I should start with?

Re: CHITUBOX
I have done gears without any problems, I lay them flat on the bed, no supports. The only problem is the "elephants foot" that you get for the first few layers, This can be resolved by putting a chamfer on that side of the gears
