Re: CoreXY + a-la-um2frame + Internal rails + Duet3D = Woa

I have begun collecting parts for a DICE, and it will be built with high-quality parts only, so HIWIN rails etc. Recieved the water jet cut parts a few weeks ago, and i have a order with René for the water cooling parts :-) That one will most probably be able to print at 100mm/s without any noticeab...

Re: CoreXY + a-la-um2frame + Internal rails + Duet3D = Woa

I like the basics of the design, but i also dislike some things. For example, why use no top plate like in the UM design? That would make sure that it is square and add quite a lot of rigidity. Also, i would not trust that single rail with being rigid enough with a large head like that, i would at l...

Re: Whose good with CAD? Mount for UM2 printhead

LePaul , I see that ultralight mount got a pretty big cutout for the motor, it might be a good idea to make the back plate larger to get a bit more support... So, here is a version with a 45x45mm back plate instead of the minimal 38x38mm one. PLA would probably work just fine, but a CF version is o...

Re: Whose good with CAD? Mount for UM2 printhead

LePaul , something like this? :-) Spent about half an hour, fist time i touched CAD in over 3 weeks, just arrived home from a vacation. You will need to replace the long thumb screws with four M3x35mm screws. It is designed to fit a 31x31mm hole pattern (Nema17 standard) http://i.imgur.com/3IwW2mA....

@@gr5 i do work for 3DVerkstan part-time since a while ago, with a focus on the Olsson Ruby nozzles and other product developments. I still run my engineering company Cederb AB the rest of the time :-)

Re: Super hard nozzles - Test pilots

gr5: no, the one on the right will not fit the UM3 cores, the UM3 nozzle has a finer pitch thread and not exactly the same length. The one in the picture is made for E3D Volcano / Lulzbot MOARstruder. We have gotten some requests for a 0.25, but we are not sure either if it really makes sense since ...

Re: Super hard nozzles - Test pilots

Today we announced new sizes (0.6 and 0.8mm) available now, and upcoming versions of the #olssonruby to fit the Volcano from E3D and the MOARstruder from LulzBot. Re: Interesting Ultimaker Steel Frame Build

We use welding overalls at Stockholm Makerspace made out of flameproof heavy duty denim-like cotton, they cost about 60€ or so and provides protection for most of the body.

You want good UV protection or you may end up with a really nasty sunburn that hurts like hell...

Re: How much should a good 3D printer cost?

I have been curious about building a Ultimaker style gantry with the new Igus carbon fiber rods, the 12mm one is way stiffer than a 6mm rod and weighs less than a third. The print head weight is about the same since the larger polymer bearings are comparable In weight to the LM6UU

three points define a plane, four make it overconstratined and prone to wobbling and drawer slide effect.

Re: Interesting Ultimaker Steel Frame Build

And you do NOT need 200A to make something like this, 200A is enough for 6-10mm steel or 4-6mm aluminum.

I would probably use less than 100A to weld a steel frame like this (but I am not very experienced, so take this advice for what it is.)

I would probably go for the PC, even if it is a bit harder to print.
