The Flex3Drive

Hi guys, I noticed there's quite some interest in this topic, so I decided to already start a thread where you can ask any questions, and I will post updates as I have the time. From this thread : Any chance of more photos of the flex3drive from all angles? May have to invest in one to test it out a...

Re: Ultimaker 2 pancake stepper direct drive

Hmm, S3D estimated a printing time of about 13:30 hours, but it was off by a lot. It has been printing for about 20h now, but it's still only 2/3 done. It's looking pretty good so far though: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j0185v0lbb1ey7m/IMG_20161006_224948.jpg?raw=1 There's are a few tiny hairs in some...

Re: Ultimaker 2 pancake stepper direct drive

It was a little bit tricky to get the first layer right, had to drop the model a mm or so because the bottom wasn't really flat. I'll post some pictures tomorrow when it's done. About the flex3drive, I've had mine for a couple weeks now and I definitely like it a lot. Fixes a lot of issues I had wit...

That one is indeed very nice, I use it as well.

This is the design:

Re: Ultimaker 2 pancake stepper direct drive

I'm sorry, I haven't made myself quite clear. I recently installed a flex3drive on my printer and I'd like to see how it compares to your pancake stepper. I meant to ask for the model of Yoda. I found one on thingiverse but it seemed to not be the same as yours.

Very nice! Could you maybe share that stl, I'd like to print one myself and compare the results :)

Re: Simplify3d basic guide

So far my experience with S3D has been very good. Slicing is done much faster than cura, and the print preview is fantastic. I have not played with much settings yet, but I definitely see useful applications for most of them. The idea of processes really appeals to me as well. I've not needed them m...

Re: the use of vacuum or back pressure when printing with two nozzles

Your idea sucks (See what I did there?) :) Well, maybe. I do not exclude that the gap between the filament and the bowden tube in the area of the feeder will reduce the effect of the reduced pressure. But this design defect is easy to fix a simple rubber gasket. Otherwise, the next tests will show ...

Re: Simplify3d basic guide

I don't know, I tossed it out first thing. For some reason the default settings change the motor current of your extruder... Now those are settings I do not want my slicer to change :P

Re: Simplify3d basic guide

It is a bit confusing. If I understood correctly, here's how it works: http://i.imgur.com/ogt12Sp.png In the overview, there is the Temperature Identifier dropdown menu. You can choose T0, T1, T2, etc. In the starting script, you can use the settings from this tab, by using the tag [extruder#_temper...

Re: Simplify3d basic guide

I think you are mistaken. This is from the link I posted from the S3D forums: Starting G-Code: This is the G-Code that will be ran after heating up but before your print. Traditionally, this will consist of homing the printer, potentially purging the nozzle, wiping the nozzle and running an auto-lev...
