Cura 3.1 released, and no one said anything

I just refreshed my Cura download page and saw that 3.1 was out. Downloading now. Surprised that I didn't see anything about it here or other locations. Not even a beta announcement.

Re: More issues with cura and bad prints!

It looks like you are printing with either a brim or raft. Print with a skirt and see what it looks like. You can also preview the print by switching to the gcode view in Cura.

Which version of Cura are you using? If it is the old 15.xx, I highly recommend upgrading to the latest.

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I seem to be getting medium demands to print stuff for friends or friends of friends. Mainly dice towers ($20) and dice jails ($10). Thinking about printing a DM Screen. Tried part of this one at 85%. Not sure if I want to continue. 8 hours each to print 2 of the 4 main wall components. Total of 18 ...

Re: CR-10 vs the CR-10S

I have the 10S, and I know the bed heating is much slower than my 3DP-17. I thought it might be due to the 12v setup vs 24v on the 3DP-17. I'll time it this weekend and report back.

Re: over extrusion on first layer

Just so you understand red is my first 3DP11, an Blu is my second 3DP12 3D Printer ( This is not the color of the filament ) only the color of the Printers. BTW, I see some cross-pollination going on there. Red has Blu's Z brackets, and Blu has Red's. That's almost as bad as swapping underwear with...

Re: over extrusion on first layer

What he is telling you is that he has two virtually identical printers that he has code named Red and Blue that print very differently. AFAIK, based on the specs of these two printers, other than one shipping with an autolevel sensor, they are the same. I do know they use the same extruder and print...

Re: over extrusion on first layer

You can find plenty of instructions for extruder calibration on Youtube, and Thingiverse has plenty of test prints. Search based on your printer model first, you will find plenty of tutorials and guides.

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I assume your printer can handle the 2.85mm Filament? Kind of an odd size. I thought all filament was either 1.75mm or 3mm.

Re: over extrusion on first layer

A more simple explanation could be nozzle wear. Depending on what material you are printing and what it is made of, you could simply need to replace your nozzle. If they are the standard cheap brass nozzles (most Chinese printers are by default), just replace it. 5 pack is ~$10 on Amazon, and these ...

Quite the opposite with my 3D Fuel Coffee PLA. Mmmmm, coffee. Bit on the pricey side at $49 for 500g.

Re: Just ordered a Tornado....

I haven't heard a lot of good things about Tevo, just the opposite actually. Apparently they sent a 'demo' unit to Tom Salander(?) to do a review, without telling him. Then he gets a call from customs that they need paperwork and fees to get it released. Then Tevo sent him $1000 as a 'tip', again no...

Re: Which Large 3d Printer?

I'd stick with the CR-10. Both my son and I have been printing quite well with ours (although his only stops long enough to remove the previous print and change filament). I should note that he lives 250 miles away and has the CR-10. I have the CR-10S (dual Z axis steppers and filament sensor). Leve...
