Re: Setting up Octoprint on the Raspberry Pi3 (video)

Using a NUC as the brain in a droid sounds like someone putting iMac Pro's in a server rack...which someone did :P https://www.slashgear.com/imac-pro-server-rack-macstadium-private-cloud-02532722/ Fun things aside...if you optimized the power management setup, and used one of those converter units, ...

Re: UM2 problems

It is probably one of the stepper drivers, or it's joints, that is starting to give in due to heat and time. What you could do if it is only the Y-axis that is acting weird is to change it to use the 5th unused driver on the board. The fact that they (UM) have mounted them without any heat sinks or ...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I'm not printing much right now...and I still haven't had time to finish putting together the #nextprinter i'm building for Jr. But I need to start wrapping it up because I want to play with that Duet card and the design by gudo :) And to make things worse this week ended sadly...as our youngest cat...

Re: Layer splitting with ABS

Short story: I would ditch ABS and look into the newer products like ASA or Colorfabbs Ngen. Maybe the good old XT, but this also needs more than 240°C for mechanically strong prints. I tried ASA once, based on reading that it was like ABS, but easier to print with and not as toxic. But if you do n...

Re: E3D Tool Changing printer...

Saw it in person yesterday, a newer version than what they showed at MRRF. Looks pretty impressive, although it clearly shows that they have some work left to do until it is ready. But once they have ironed out all the quirks it can be a good workhorse that can do more than just print plastics. The ...

Sssshhhh, it's a secret...

I'm going to write more once i'm done...it's a project i'm doing with my son...codename #nextprinter
You could think of it as kind of an UMO+ 2 Go, but better than the original, and more silent :)

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Seems the revival of the Ultimaker forum made things quiet here! Although the new Ultimaker forum is better...I don't think that it's a "revival"...there isn't much tinkering going on in any of these forums anymore. Myself, i'm so busy with life that writing about what i'm doing rarely ha...

Re: UM2 PTFE fit in stainless steel part

Been a while since I put an UM2+ head on my UMO and put in a new TPE...but from what I remember you can turn it...after all you need to be able to easily replace it :)

Re: Wifi failure on Pi3 ?

The thing is that all WiFi devices with built-in antennas...Pi's, mobiles, gadgets etc. is that they are very sensitive to the slightest loss in signal power. So just moving the device a few feets, even rotating it, can result in a loss of connectivity. That said...wired Ethernet rocks...especially ...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I showed Jr Thingiverse this weekend...and he immediately selected two things he wants me to print asap  I'm amazed how quickly he managed to find them... This is the simplest of the two models he showed me...do I need to say what his main interest is? 8-) ba29064817a5cb9a0c5d7308b68c077c_previ...

Re: Please rank these printers

The board is as closed as it can get...someone needs to reverse engineer the board tracings to understand how it it all hooked together if they want to get some other FW on there. And this is a 32-bit board so i'm not sure at what state Marlin is when it comes to that. IMO using this board is a gamb...

Re: Please rank these printers

If there is one weak spot in the East 3D Gecko, it is the motherboard. It’s a proprietary Chinese board that looks good on paper, is reasonably priced, supports different drivers...but...the FW is closed source, developed in China, and the communication with the developers seems to be through one we...

Re: Please rank these printers

They are all the same...just with/without heated bed and glass type. Don’t know why they added so many instead of just having additional options.

Then there are a couple of upgrades you can print that are on the FB page, or Thingiverse.
