Re: Upgrade kit available
When upgrading the firmware the default value for all setting (incl E-steps) is only set to the firmware default if the EEPROM_VERSION defined has changed from the previous firmware. The only time it is really necessary from a software point of view to change EEPROM_VERSION is when the data layout i...

Re: Upgrade kit available
The hot end cooling fan is a Sunon 25x25x6mm fan type V1 which is more powerful and a bit more noisy than the type V2 model many tinkerers have installed as a replacement for the noisy middle fan. I think this type of fan has been installed on some later standard UM2s, not sure. The model cooling ar...

Re: Cura wish list
Python really isn't suited for static analysis AFAIK. If I were to add something to the wish list it would be for the heavy lifting parts of Cura to be rewritten in a compiled language (like CuraEngine is). I'm not up to date on the Cura code but loading STL files, calculating bounding boxes, render...

Re: Usermap and mChat
Even though many people here are Ultimaker fans I don't see the reason for pointing a chat to an Ultimaker dedicated chat room. I think that will prove confusing if people are talking about other subjects, as the should do on this forum, and flood the #ultimaker chat with unrelated chatter. Just my ...

Re: Filament Drives
I want give a rough intuition about the problem of getting the extrusion amount just right. First of all we don't want to bother with the case of failure where the filament slips or we have missed steps, those are real problems of 3d-printing but not of importance when discussing the nature of the p...

Re: Super hard nozzles - Test pilots
I can imaging different reasons why the result of the Olsson 'bling' nozzles are better than the E3D nozzles. I would guess the better thermal conductivity of the material used is the main reason for this difference. To keep the plastic flowing smoothly through the orifice keeping the plastic at an ...

Re: Super hard nozzles - Test pilots
This discussion has gone of topic. Regardless of the setup there is only one way of actually feeding the right amount of filament and that is called feedback. I suggest any further discussions on esteps/extrusion multiplier should move to a separate topic .
