Re: MAXTEMP BED Error

I just ran into this last night (~13 hours into a 17 hour print - Doh!). Turns out it was the connector for the termister on the swappable print head. Unfortunately, there was no chance of recovery. Printer died ~4am, all but 5 lines of serial data was lost due to continued buffering from Octoprint....

Re: Hictop 3dp11 Printer

Glad to hear that you are enjoying it. That's what this hobby is about.

I'm printing 4 Raspberry Pi 4 rack chassis as I type this. Already printed the chassis for the 5 port POE switch. This is expected to run another 15-21 hours (depending on which Octoprint reading I look at).

Re: Hictop 3dp11 Printer

From your previous post, I would initially start by doing a full bed level set and test. Start by moving the print head to each corner, and hitting Z home while using a sheet of paper between the bed and the nozzle. Best to do this with the bed and nozzle at temp (60/200). You should have slight res...

Re: Hictop 3dp11 Printer

Moved topic to the Hictop general forum.

Welcome to the site. I too have a Hictop 3DP17 (very similar to the 3DP11). @Roberts_Clif knows way more about it though, but I will try to help where I can.

Biggest thing is to have patience.

Re: Where Do I Start?

I doubt it. The real issue remains: The arduino is still transferring via serial (like modem speeds serial). I think they top out at 115200 baud. Thats ~115Kb/s (bits per second). SD is usually between 10MB/s-80MB/s (bytes per second). I ran into this in my last job when I tried to develop a USB sti...

Re: Tis the Holiday Season...let's chat!

I'll be spending the weekend remodeling (the never ending project), and building a kubernetes cluster from spare systems (need to learn this system for work). Thinking about using some Raspberry Pi 4 systems for it. Will try with what I have first (mainly older systems).

Wheee.

Re: MPK.V1 Controller

I thought I had posted something about this a while back. I swapped out my original main board with a replacement I bought off amazon (original board stopped working for a couple of steppers iirc). Fortunately, Hictop also sent me a warranty replacement (took 3 weeks from China, Amazon took 2 days w...

Re: Help creating vpn for octoprint (3d printing)

Yes, that is possible. But why not just put up a firewall for the whole house? I have an older low end desktop running IPFire with openvpn access from outside.I can connect to my systems from anywhere on my cellphone if I need to. As to the ISP router, I have it in pass-through mode, so ipfire is do...

Re: Creality Ender 3 Cura miscommunication

Oh, that may be a different issue. Check that you are setting up the correct extruder in Cura (or whatever you are using). Also check that the temperature setting is correct for your print. You can check the gcode file that is sent to the printer, just look for 'M109 S###' (where ### is the temperat...

Re: Creality Ender 3 Cura miscommunication

Sounds like the thermal sensor is broken. You should be able to replace it. I've had to replace several on my printers in the past. They are very delicate glass beads.

Re: Creality CR-10 S4 or Ender-5 Plus, Which To Get?

Those are fairly different printers, with regard to print dimensions. That would be one of the first things I would look at. If you want to make larger prints, go with the CR-10 S4 (I have the CR-10S which is slightly smaller, but still larger than the Ender-5 plus). Both have similar ratings, both ...

Re: How to reset HOME where it was before cleaning HotEnd ?

It sounds like a misconfigured setting in your marlin configuration.h file. If you can get the source for both firmware versions, I would do a comparison and go from there. It isn't terribly difficult to work with (actually, the Marlin team did a remarkable job at documenting the settings).

Re: Moisture Eliminators

Erm, call me crazy, but if you have 3 year old filament, you aren't printing enough useless stuff. Get busy!

My friend turned me on to these. He keeps them in some of his cars that are in storage. They work great.
