Re: OctoPrint
I really wish Marlin would push a signal via serial to Octoprint for filament out sensor. Seems silly to have to wire the filament sensor to my Pi for this. Need to examine the Marlin code. Add to my todo wishlist. Now more than ever. Currently, I am printing a bunch of power supply brackets for wo...

Re: OctoPrint
I would check your settings between Cura versions. When printing from Cura, all it is doing is sending the gcode to Octoprint. Octoprint is just acting as an intelligent buffer (for monitoring progress and temperature) at that point. I really wish Marlin would push a signal via serial to Octoprint f...

Just FYI, when you post a question on a forum, stick with one area and don't multi-post across topics.

Re: Wavy prints
Actually, this looks like a loose print bed, since it is on both X & Y axis. Does the bed move when you put your hand on it? Can the bed move side to side? Looking at some online specs, I assume this has a proximity leveling sensor. If so, I would tighten the 4 bed leveling screws evenly by abou...

What? No more 'dishes' in the background?
Seriously, looks great. How do you like the T7i? I'm thinking of upgrading from my (now ancient) T1i.

Re: Can't seem to print direct from my computer to printer.
You need to first figure out what Com port your printer shows up as. When you plug it in, it will show up in Windows Device Manager as a COM port (i.e. COM3). Then you can set Cura to use that port to connect to your printer.

Re: OctoPrint
For reformatting the Octopi SD cards (or any USB devices that have been graced with Linux), it is recommended to use the HP USB Format Utility.

Re: OctoPrint
The video is streaming via 1 frame (jpg) at a time. Yes, it is possible to record this on your PC, but it is not easy (and even more difficult on WIndows because there are no AOL skill level tools - Windows is a NOOB OS by design - even if the users are power users and knowledgeable). To prove my po...

Anyone experiment with Klipper?
I found a link to this firmware/software combination on the CR-10 discussions on Thingiverse. Looks interesting. https://github.com/KevinOConnor/klipper I may try it out on my little-hicci later (copious spare time and all), since I have the Marlin firmware and a complete replacement board if things...

Re: OctoPrint
Well, for starters, the Pi Zero has an Arm v6 processor, vs the Pi 2 v7 quad core and the Pi 3 v8 64 bit processor. In PC terms, it would be like comparing an Intel Pentium 120 (586) to a Pentium III 800 (i686) and a more recent Core i3 processor (based on core architecture, not speed and memory). S...

Re: Anyone with an M3D printer?
Update: My son gave up on his M3D after 2 warranty replacements. It worked fine for a month, then the print head took a nose dive and embedded itself into the plastic frame at full temp. The replacement (took 2 weeks of emails before an RMA was issued) shredded its Y-axis belt on the first print. He...

Octoprint Tutorials
Instead of making piecemeal posts here and there, I thought I would start an Octopi Tutorial thread. First, follow the directions here to download and setup Octopi (give me a shout out if you use Win32DiskImager - </shameless plug>) Changing the hostname and/or default password without knowing Linux...

Re: New Release!
Need to revisit this post with some updates (for those that are following along): What's with the 8.3 file names only? Turns out, the Marlin firmware only outputs in 8.3 format. See https://github.com/foosel/OctoPrint/issues/1600. Also, why does it print so slow? Need to look into that. May be worth...
