Re: Controller Freezes

Sounds like you need a backup for the backup as a backup. :P On a more serious note, if you want to do some printing as a service on the side, check out https://printathing.com. They are a community printing service you can sign up for and get prints assigned to you with ~24 hour (or reasonable give...

Re: .02 Nozzle

It should, as long as the thread is the same (most are standardized). Nothing needs to change in the firmware either. Just change the nozzle diameter in Cura (or whatever you plan on using for slicing).

Custom printer racks

I have a friend that has a rather impressive collection of machine shop tools (take my word for it - impressive barely scratches the surface). He was wondering (due to my interest in 3D printing) if there was any interest in having customized 3D printer racks that can be shipped and assembled on-sit...

Re: Cura 3.1 released, and no one said anything

Because I think a good anti-virus program is worth paying for Free vs paid doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the program (as most Cura vs S3D users will know). They all have their good and bad sides. Look at McAfee. It's so bad, the original creator wanted the name changed (since he i...

Re: Printing from SD Card on LCD Display

The controller with the built-in SD reader disables the LCD reader electrically, I believe. I have the same issue. I ended up buying an SD extension cable off Amazon, and routing it to the front of my 3DP-17. The reason they did this was to reduce interference on the ribbon cables from the display.

But I am still able to print my own baby Groot without paying tribute to the Hollywood money machine.

Re: Controller Freezes

The newer replacement control boards eliminated this issue by moving the SD card to below the usb port (not convenient by any means, but it fixes this issue). I ended up buying an SD extension from Amazon, and mounting it to the front of the chassis next to the LCD (I moved it down in front like the...

Re: Controller Freezes

What Windows sees is that a single bit is not set indicating a clean filesystem (I can't remember where this bit is, but I'm sure I have a book on it somewhere). I don't think the SD has anything to do with your printers freezing though, but it is possible. Another possibility is that the SD is just...

Looks cool. I may have to get one for my 3DP-17. Was thinking of going with the BLTouch, but this just looks cool.

Re: Cura 3.1 released, and no one said anything

Izzy, I am borderline type 2. IT can be controlled by changing eating habits easily enough. One big change I made is switching to Blue Agave for sweetener (coffee, tea). Also, I gave up beer ('m a bit of a beer snob anyway - used to brew my own). For alcoholic beverages, I have a local distillery th...

Re: More issues with cura and bad prints!

Brim/raft is not considered support. It is actually under Build Plate Adhesion. For this model, I recommend only a skirt, which are a series of lines printed around the object, but never touching it. This is primarily used to prime the print head before starting to print the first layer, but also he...
