Re: Build surface advice

Sorry, I meant to come back and update this sooner...

Thanks for all the replies. I've stuck with borosilicate glass for now. I'm going to try mesh bed leveling though, so I will take the glass off while I try that.

Re: Hic 3DP-08 Marlin 1.1.0 RC8

Good to see that someone else is using RC8. I was planning to upgrade to RC8 today as I have a new 128x64 graphic LCD on the way and I want to try mesh bed leveling - if I'm going to muck around with that stuff then I might as well go to the latest firmware. I'll probably configure it from scratch s...

Re: Auto Bed, Lead Screw, Extruder Upgrade MK2 from Prusa3d

It would be fantastic if we could use that upgrade kit, because the Prusa i3 MK2 is the only "affordable" (relatively speaking) printer I've heard of which has both mesh bed leveling and automatic probing enabled at the same time. Sadly I doubt it though: it's probably made to fit the exact dimensio...

Build surface advice

Hello all I've tried a couple of different build surfaces and I get issues with each. My aluminium heated bed is warped, and from what I can gather this is quite common with aluminium plates. I'm interested in hearing the advice of others on what they have found to work well on their printers; I'll ...

Re: Firmware Marlin-1.1.0-RC6 - now running

Thanks for the awesome work with this. I haven't gone through all lines of both configuration.h and configuration_adv.h yet - I'm in the process of doing so before adding an inductive sensor - but I notice that you left EEPROM disabled (line 775 of config.h). Just checking whether that was a mistake...

Re: Help with a lifting brim, please!

I have some experience with various tape on a cold bed on our delta machine and I absolutely hate blue tape! With a heated bed you would normally not use tape though. I am not even sure the tape likes heat at all? You should be able to print PLA on a clean hot bed, without tape! The best and easies...

Re: Help with a lifting brim, please!

Hi, blc! If the house is a building level, then try to measure the position of the bed at the edges, whether there is bias towards the rear of the bed. What kind of plastic? What is the temperature? Sorry, should have mentioned that! This is PLA filament; nozzle is at 205°C and the bed is at 60°C f...

Help with a lifting brim, please!

I need some help/guidance, if possible. I've calibrated my axes, levelled the bed, and I've calibrated my extruder steps per mm, but I'm really struggling to print parts with fine details. I'm trying to print these chain cable links , but one of the finer parts keeps lifting from the bed: http://i.i...

Re: HIC i3 - Power Supply Upgrade

Here is very telling terse voltage table according to load, ORIGINAL =stock PSU and wiring, NEW =new 12V@30 amp PSU, NEW/12AWG = new 12V@30 amp PSU and changed wiring to 12AWG: ORIGINAL NEW NEW/12AWG 12.16......12.16....12.16 = No-load voltage at boot 9.85.......11.72....11.94 = Bed only pre-heatin...

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information

I think the steps per mm on the z axis are wrong. Nothing a M92 can't fix. Agreed, extrusion looks OK it has to be the Z-steps. Paste your configuration file EEPROM settings. Here is mine, however I have stock 8mm x 1.25mm stainless (straight) z-axis threaded rods. / Default AXIS STEPS, MAX_FEEDRAT...

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information

I wish I'd known about the firmware backup before now. I don't know that much about firmware settings, but I know that this isn't right (click for larger): http://i.imgur.com/fa36jpFl.jpg That's supposed to be a 20mm cube, before I aborted the print. I get the same results in both Cura and Slic3r, a...

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information

Good news, using the source code here HIC ic 1.1.03-RC4 my friend has his HIC i3 doing auto-level. I'm going to try it next. Of course you have to have an inductive Z-probe which I assume you do. Will post changes to the configuration.h file that you will need. Don't sweat over auto-levelling, I'm ...
